Hi, I've been lurking on this site for awhile now and figured I should probably post an intro. I moved into a new house almost three years ago and had to give up a nice workshop (30x40) and a storage barn (30x40) to get a larger house with only a 2-car garage. Even though I built the last two myself, I just didn't have the time with two small children now so I hired a local Amish crew who threw a 30x40x12 together in less than 3 days, with a concrete floor. That got my stuff out of storage and onto my property, but I'm still working out of a *tiny* 2-car garage and it's time to get that organized.

Here are a few pics of the barn as it went up:

Another 1.5 days later and this is what I had:

I then set out to organize the mess and load all my stuff into it. I built a 16x16 "loft" over two of my cars, and am able to store some of the larger items up there (patio furniture, two lawn tractors, moped, car parts, etc.). I used my gantry crane to put the stuff up there, but have also designed and built a little hand-winch driven "elevator" to put things up. I have to get some pics of that, but it's almost done. Just some tweaking to do.

Here's a shot of the inside of the barn. I have a long way to go with organizing, but it's getting there:

Recently, I rented a trencher:

I laid down 250' of trench to run electrical conduit to the barn (and T-off to run a circuit out to my kids' playhouse).

I've got 8 cars in there now, and this barn is purely for storage of projects. You know, "deals" I HAD to have, even if I had plenty of stuff to do already. :willy_nil

The garage is another matter entirely. I need to be able to park my wife's car in there, and would like to get my daily driver in there as well, but since I need a place to work for now, I may just leave one side open. I'll be building a separate, dedicated workshop in the near future, so lots of fun to be had!

I'm looking forward to sharing some of my oddball projects and ideas with everyone and really enjoy reading about some of the truly amazing projects on here. Very inspirational!

Thanks,

Grant

Barn looks good, those Amish guys are amazing. Electric service in the play house, that is first class!
