I am the owner of a 46 Dodge WD 21 1 1/2 ton flat bed. The truck is in one piece and not rusted out so I am trying to get it back into running order. Anyone out there who has delt with split rims, please shout back with any suggestions on how to get around the fact that no one will work on them.;)

Split rims are dangerous so hearing that you're not having any luck finding someone to work on them is not surprising.
If you want to keep them for originality, you may want to check with some restoration shops or do it yourself. Check YouTube for videos. They are not hard to work on at all, but you need to take a LOT of safety precautions. Chains wrapped around the wheel and tire (through center of the wheel) at the very minimum while airing them up.

Good luck!

Frank at about 136th and Canyon rd e in puyallup there is a used tire place on the west? side of the road. The owner is a collector of old military Dodges and as mentioned owns a tires place.
So i`d reckon that would be a good place to start

Thanks everyone I just found a kindred spirit at a Les Swabb tire company and was informed that what I thought I had was the widdow maker is in fact not but rather a split ring wheel which is a little harder to work with but this guy is totaly ok with takeing it on and helping me to put new tires on it and getting the rims repainted while we are at it. I'm also going to take a drive to Puyallup. Got the parts for the starter this weekend and got the starter to engage and turn the engine over.

Congratz on getting it to turn over...
If she's been sitting for a long while, think about squirting a little 2-cycle oil into each cylinder and then slowly cranking over by hand to distribute to cylinder walls. 2cycle oil has great cling properties and is formulated to burn off without leaving a lot of carbon deposits.
Of course some fresh oil in the crankcase, fresh fuel and a fire extinguisher are nice too!
