Just bought a house last year, started thinking about a proper garage/workspace right away. Property only had a rotten shed which i tore down before christmas. Installed a insulated truck box to house my tools and bikes while i build..6e8a9a8eed82d266fe8b68a138124d80.jpg

Hello DataDavid
You have made a start and that is the important thing. You’ll have t show us how the front of your structure closes. Now for the important stuff. A buddy of mine sold a 1957 Buick Roadmaster Convertible to someone in Sweden the car was from Canada. It was Rolls Royce Silver with a White top. Once you locate it please mail it back to me. Will talk again once you find the car and require postal information. Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin. As an interesting side note, many years ago a good friend of mine had family in Sweden and he would visit them about every 3 years or so. I am not sure of this, I haven't had contact with him for probably 30 years now, but I think he may have moved to Sweden.

Every time I go to IKEA I feel like I could never in a million years learn your language enough to even speak to a three year old.

Welcome to the board!

Yea, i should be able to find an old fixer upper for cheap locally, farm boys usually just let them sit when they buy new toys. I can fix just about anything that breaks and love old machines so looking forward to getting one myself!

Here's a pic of the spring/counterweight contraption, counterweight is around 50 kgs, and its a one hand operation now, was pure weightlifting exercise closing it before i got this done.81e8bca2e7b0570eef9afb7ccd3589e5.jpg

I’ll be damned that is pretty unique for a garage door. My wife’s niece is married to a Swedish guy. In Sweden he was an engineer with the trolley cars. Now he is in Toronto working with the trollies there. Maybe I can talk him into joining the GJ bunch.

Will be interested in seeing your progress.

What are you doing with all the trees you've been cutting?

Yea, i wanted it to double as a loading ramp, could have gotten the hydraulic bay door along with the box but it weighed over 500kgs, and would have taken some effort to install..[emoji16] cool, there are a few towns using tram traffic in sweden still, mainly gothenburg and norrköping i think.

Heat the house i think, most of it is some type of salix and not fit for construction, saving some for woodwork since it has beatiful two-tone wood. The firs and birches will be put to dry and used for different house projects, some birches will be used to build the front porch for example.
Thinking about making a chainsaw jig for cutting boards and planks, would be seriously useful!

Kinda garage related, got the digging and house expansion started, so we started digging out parking space and holes to pour concrete in while we had some steam.27029a71be1ee46da75cc637b0d2b5b3.jpg99819eda48917885348779fc7eb77c4c.jpg

Kinda forgot about this thread but i built a shed around the box! Stays nice and dry inside during winter, may have to insulate the shed in the end as well but it works for now[emoji106]af3e202b9ebb0fab360b04d4ecf8db0e.jpg
