Im looking for a four drawer tool box for school and came across a "vintage snap on box". Its on ebay and looks just like a couple of the ones Ive seen on here. Only thing is its priced on up there and Ive asked the seller for part numbers, referencing this forum as to where they might be (on the back?) anyways he's emailed me twice and for some reason he says the box has no numbers OF ANY KIND stamped anywhere on the box, also that the bottom has been repaired, but thats not a big deal. Point is Ill pay 180ish for an old snap on box but not for an imitation.

Lemme know if you guys can shed any light on wether this box is "real" or not.

heres the listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120463906070&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123

Thanks for any info guys.

It looks like a KRA58?. There are numbers stamped on the back in the middle to lower right hand corner as you face it that include the model number and date of manufacture. They are sometimes hard to see if you don't know where they are. Krusty, Chad s or snapmom should be able to id the exact model number for you.

Its prob a Kr361 from about 1950 or so. Would not have a model number on it untill the mid 50s.. Check out craighslist, sometimes you can find one there.

Gonna step out on a limb and disagree with Snapmom. I think its a KRA-59. I have 2 and the look and dimensions are the same. As far as the price, it was $153. when I looked. That is a good price if the box is in ok shape. A great price if the box is in good or better condition. I have a very nice one that I wouldn't sell for less that $250.

The model number on mine from 76 is lower right hand corner on the back.

I have a KR59A frm the early 70's but all of them that I have seen (including mine) have had a trim piece on the front edge of the drawer pull. This does not seem to have them.

I have a KRA-59E dated 1982 with the same logo as the one in the picture, no chrome trim on the drawers. Also have a KRA-59F dated 1982 with the newer logo and trim on the drawers. Don't really know if that helps, but I am curious myself what it all means. :)

I agree I also have a 1970 model KRA59A I bought with a matching KRA377B a few months ago. Looks lie a good deal, if I were closer I would be interested in a second one.

If the back has been repainted as well as the bottom the number may be covered up. they are not very deep, part the number was obscured when I got mine.
