Finally joined up here. After moving 3 times in 10 years, actually 4 times in under 15 years, 5 years later now, I'm finally undoing all of the mess I made and trying to get my 24 x 24 garage shop usable. Been selling, giving away, and throwing out stuff for nearly the last year. Putting up high shelving, getting stuff on wheels and trying to organize. I sometimes work a lot of hours and have family commitments, so it's on a "when I can" basis. I try for a few nights a week and whatever I can fit in on the weekends. Still have a long way to go, but I can finally work in there a little bit. Always looking for storage and organization ideas that I can make work on a budget.

That’s an impressive collection of small parts you have there.

Welcome from Iowa!

I understand the struggle as my story is pretty similar to yours. I moved four times in seven years before I finally landed in my 24x24. It wasn't until I discovered this forum that my eyes were opened to the idea that a home shop could be both organized and functional. Like you, I also don't get as much time to focus on the shop as I'd like, but that's just life. I still have a long way to go with my space, but I just have to remind myself that a step forward is still a step in the right direction, no matter how long it takes. Glad to have you aboard!

Welcome to the Forum from the shore of San Diego Bay. I share the use of a two car garage, my son parks in it at night, it’s my shop during all other hours. He thinks it’s his garage, it’s really my shop he has the privilege of parking in ( like life the situation is a little bit complicated).

His mother and I own the house but he makes the mortgage payments in lieu of rent.

I'm finishing up moving into town from a place with a three level barn and a big pole shed that stored my 33+ years accumulation. It's taken me 3 1/2 years to reorganize, downsize and move. Good luck!!
