Just registered, found this forum searching for sound isolation for a beefy air compressor I'm ready to buy next paycheck (Lowe's Kobalt 3.7HP 60Gal unless I find a much better deal on Craigslist). I'm a high tech computer weenie working for a biomedical device company dreaming about retiring to somplace where dirt is cheaper and having a real shop. I've always been interested in fixing and fabrication, carrying on my father's legacy of being handy since 7th grade shop class and spending my junior summer in high school taking 120 hours of tool and die training at the local VoTech school. I'm blessed by being close to a place called TechShop and The Crucible where I have taken lots of classes in welding, metal fabrication, etc (at TechShop you become a member to have access to LOTS of big tools.. very cool to play with a 4KPSI waterjet). I own a MIG, TIG, Plasma Cutter combo, radial arm saw, Oxy-Acetylene rig and am within 8 miles of three Harbor Freight stores. I used to be the Damage Control Assistant on a nuclear submarine so I am very good with efficient space management and like quality stuff. I had a garage sale and several people seeing my garage would say 'Wow... this is beautiful' or 'Would it be okay to bring my husband over to show him this?' Very happy to find a group of 'my peeps'.
