Hi.

I'm wsdad (same guy as wsdad on the HAMB).

I hope to get some good ideas for my garage from y'all.

My 2 car garage is a cluttered junk storage facility. I can't get in it to do any work. I've put my toolbox near the door so I can get tools out to work on stuff out on the driveway. I've cleaned it out several times, only to slowly refill it over time.

I repair major home appliances, so there are several of those in there. Each one takes up a lot of space.

I've built wall to wall and floor to ceiling shelves in half of it. The idea was, store stuff in one side, work in the other. After the shelves filled, the space between them did and then so did the other side of the garage.

I don't make a lot of money so everything I buy uses proportionately more of my after-bills income. So, I tend not to throw it away because it was so hard to acquire in the first place.

Plus, I fix stuff for a living so when anything breaks, I tend to think, "I can fix that when I have more time." For instance, the other day, I found a gas weed eater beside someone's trash can. I pulled the rope, nothing. Sprayed some starting fluid in the air filter, "zoom!" Found the gas line was cracked. Got a new gas line at Home Depot for $9.00. I've used it for 3 summers.

That weed eater justifies the entire two car garage full of junk!

However, I'm slowly realizing I don't want to spend all the time it would take to fix all that stuff. I probably should just throw most everything away and only work on the fun stuff, like putting a compressor in an old 1930's refrigerator or building my dream hot rod.

Sorry for the long, self-centered rant but I didn't know what else to write as an introduction to the garage forum. I hope to acquire some wisdom and good ideas from most of you.

Welcome to the GJ. Always good to see some one coming over from the HAMB.

May I suggest you update your profile with your location as in future you may find that helps. Specially given this is a very global forum. Often you will find subjects may get different answers depending on locations and regulations.
