I recently found this site and it is great, so I thought I would introduce myself. I'm Truck and I'm and addict at working in a garage. I currently live in Manassas, VA. I'm a Jeep person, specifically Scramblers. In the process of restoring one and building a trail rig from the ground up. (I think I recognized a couple of names from the Scrambler board on here). Any way, I'm planning on building a second garage at my place. I actually already bought the building. It is the arched steel building type, 25 x 30 including end walls. I picked it up for $2200 from somebody that bought it and never built it. Manufacturer is in PA, and I contacted them. I can get extension pieces to make it a 16' peak instead of the 13' it currently is. I can also buy a few more arches to make it a little longer. Plan is to make 25 x 40 ish. So, I surveyed, got zoning permission and applied for permit. Then I got my 3estimates for concrete and some grading that needed to be done. I was blown over with all 3 coming in at around $14k. This was a about twice what I was expecting having done concrete work at other housed I've lived in.This put this out of our budget so we are waiting and building up funds to make this happen. Anybody in Northern Va know someone that can do this cheaper?
It will eventually get built. Plan is to be plumbed with a toilet, utility sink, and washer/dryer (wife hates it when I wash my greasy clothes in her nice ones). It will get a 2 post lift and plumbed with a good air compressor. I hope to have a small loft for parts storage over the workbench and bathroom areas. Anyway that is the plan. Always open to suggestions.
