I've decided on some high bay lights from menards - there's two that I've narrowed it down to - a 50k lumens one and a 30k lumens one. Both are similarily priced. MY gut was like, ah well I'll do 4 of the 50k lights, 2 on each side of the truss (width of the shop, 30ft) and 2 the half length (22 ft). I will have a loft over just under half of it.

After testing one tonight, I'm wondering if I shouldn't go with more, lower lumen lights. Maybe 6, 30k? or even 8 15k?

Few pictures for reference. 1st is temporary lights of, 2nd is with them on. Last one is proposed spacing (red is 30k lumen lights, blue is 15k lights, green is 50k)

Thank you!

EDIT - For some reason, images are't uploading, so linked from postimg

I don't know what dimensions your building is. The only time I've ever used 30,000 lumen fixtures, they were mounted 25 ft off the floor.

Generally a lower ceiling needs smaller lights and more of them.
Good point -

If it helps, the shop is 40x30, the peak of the roof is about 21ft, the point at which these lights would be mounted is about 17ft from the floor.

So based on that, you'd vote more lower lumen lights?

Thanks!
