I finally bought my first house with a 2 car garage. I am looking for some better quality cabinets and work benches. I don't want the cheap Lowes or Sears stuff. Regular kitchen base cabinets don't seem to be built to withstand garage use. What do you guys recommend? Thanks.

I bought Ulti-Mate Pro. Haven't installed yet..they are made of MDF which some may say aren't 'High end'. But, if you are using kitchen cabinets as a reference...maybe the are? True high end, like anything else will cost serious $$. Its a very relative term.

If you are truely wanting "high end" cabinets and have a topnotch looking garage, Lista cabinets are very hard to beat. They have wall, sink, counter, mobile, file and drawer cabinets for a true garage nut. They will even have matching seating for the color combination that you pick.

Depending upon finances however, you might need to sell your Vette and buy a bicycle to pay for a garage full of Lista. Your bicycle will look cool leaned up against them though....

Mine are from a company called wereorganized. They are custom top to bottom.

They come out - you show them space and tell them what you want - they take measurements - they build cabinets - they install cabinets - you pay through the nose.

I liked them so much that when we moved to our new house, the cabinets came with me.

Why not do something like this? Graphic design is 100% up to you....or can go with a sleek black. any size/shape config available.

I'd try a local cabinet maker if you want something really nice. Maybe he'll have a new guy starting that needs some "practice" and you can get a better rate. Also, if you have a local joint vocational school, try talking to one of the teachers about possibly building some cabinets, might cost nothing more than materials. . . and maybe a pizza party for the students.

a couple of options
buy several bottom boxes, leave the wheels off and attach to the walls
install a top and you will have a reasonable cost mid-high grade cabinets

if you want true high end with the high end price
look up SHURE or MODULINE

My brother is a cabinet maker and I had him make mine. That would be the route I would go even if my brother wasn't a cabinet maker. You get exactly what you want and it fits the space perfectly, you also get to design everything into it that you need. Shop around and you will get some pretty decent prices.

just a personal point of view, but I think the built in workbenches are more looks than works.
if I install cabinets they would be for storage or tools and stuff.
I would much rather have a mobile work station / workbench as I can take it where I want including out into the driveway ro to the middle of the floor depending on what I am doing

I used the same place. Are you also in the Sacramento area? This is an old picture from when I first had them installed when I bought the house.

Yes, they were expensive but at the time I wanted cabinets quick so I bought these and had their flooring partner do the epoxy floor.

I`m putting together a set of Ultimate garage cabinets, they are made out of pvc coated mdf and was a little leary about them till I started to assemble them, they are not like the cheapo Sauder furniture everyone is used to. The hardware and fasteners are pretty substantial and the hinges are good quality european style. I will post some pics later today.
