Looking at adding 1-2 lifts in my garage. I have plenty of ceiling height. Question is doing that high lift door tracks. Will I still be able to use this type of opener or have to go to a Jack shaft opener that mounts to the side.

And yes I understand the racks will be coming down

My door is a jackshaft style (manual chain only), but it also meant the high lift kit was cheap and easy. Just two pieces of track with a few brackets.

I doubt it. It's a very simple machine, and simple geometry, so you could certainly figure out how to attempt it. If you have a long enough diagonal connector you should be able to see that the force on everything is increased, but at least some of the force is in the right direction and there's a chance it would work.

The reason for the jackshaft is because of the motion of that L-bar that currently connects your door to your opener. The geometry doesn't work in high lift situations

Like the other posters said - there probably won't be room to fit your current style opener. My high lift is pretty close to the ceiling, but I don't have an opener on that one. That particular door is also too tall for a rail style opener. However, I have jackshaft openers on two other overhead doors, and they pretty much kick ***. I will never install the "L bar/rail" style ever again, even in places where it would fit. Get a good opener and be happy.

If your goal is to install car lifts into the garage, you would want to go to a jackshaft style opener anyways so the opener is out of the way of a raised vehicle
