Anyone know of any really high quality air hose couplers. Maybe made in USA or Europe? I've had a couple of bunk couplers from HD in the last couple of months.

I know about Milton, which I thought was all made in USA goods, but I thought I saw some offshore stuff with the Milton name of late.

Prevost connectors are the best I've used.

http://www.prevost.eu/compressed-air-couplings.html

Hands down Prevost is the best, as far as I can rember made in the USA, i met the owner a few years back in FL we sell alot of there cupplers/connectors

page 08.0210 shows the Prevost connector's I personally like the the way it has a metal button instead of plastic

http://www.wurthusa.com/project/media/new_online_catalog_2008/sections/Sec_8_TOOLS_12_2008.pdf

Also a few others connectos on that page worth mentioning, the silver connector next to the Prevost is made in Sweden I found that to be high a high quailty connector also. The middle of the page shows some wurth plastic connectors which carry a 2 year warranty and you can even run them over! The Black one is a 2 action one you push up and pull down to relase it, the gray one you just pulldown, and last but not least one of my personal favorites the swing connector, that one is self explinatory!

They will have problems though. We switched over to them at work a few years ago and it seems after a few months of repeated use, it becomes hard to get the male connector out without a little work. I'm not talking about every Prevost connector though, but maybe every 2 out of 10 will do it. It may also have to do with the male fittings as they can vary slightly from vendor to vendor. I have two of the Prevost female connectors at home and one of them I have a heck of a time with disconnects with every tool I use on it. The other is just fine. It is a great connector for a person with arthritis though. My wife can use it fine, but a standard coupler she cannot. All in all I rate them a 9 1/2 out of 10

As with most tools there not going to last forever, but I will say some of the fault is in the cheep connectors people shove in the things, Ive seen alot of variences in connectors over the years, I guess its just the way the machining is done in the manufacturing plants, but as far as I can tell going into numerous shops over the years the Prevost will stand up the longest, not saying there not going to break but as far as Ive run into, Prevost seams to warranty broken connectors, but Ive only had 1 or 2 fail. I like them cause the easy of use and Ive never seen on get so lose the air dosent hold, like conventional connectors. The push button is a major plus for people with arthritis. Over all Id say 9 1/2 out of 10 is fair.

All the couplers mentioned are good products. However, I have a problem with the bulk and size of many couplers. Many are too big, so I've been using a smaller ACME coupler on my tools.

They are still made in the USA, and are good quality brass couplers. Some of mine have been in use since the early 70's --

Not pushing these, just saying that there is a smaller alternative

They are available from MSC -- www.MSCdirect.com

oetiker, simple and reliable, use them in a grinding shop on 1/2" lines running 100#s always easy to uncouple, never come uncoupled accidentally.

The environment simply kills the parker connectors.

CEJN is what the shop uses, no issues in a year or so after switching, except finding couplers isn't all that convenient except from a single supplier.

Just curious but why wouldn't you use full flow? Why would you regulate at the coupler and not somewhere else (assuming you wanted to regulate, for example, to meet OSHA requirements for various things like cleaning a floor with an air hose).

My S-O guy said he sells Prevost. He'll try to match whatever price I can find on the net.

I've got 5 lines running. 3 grinders and 2 impact guns.

Who makes the best rubber hoses? If I'm going to put Prevost up, I might as well find out who does the best hose too.

What ever you do, don't buy HF hose. It's the most aweful hose I've ever used.

Based on input from many GJ members, I opted for the orange GoodYearhose that is sold by many outlets -- incl. HF. It's held up very well and if you search a bit, it goes on sale at HF every few weeks.
