For me it may be Hazet, knurling, COO, different, excellent quality, though I have mostly Snap-on.

I'd say nepros....

Just can't beat the fit and finish...

If you're in California (Bay Area)...and worried about warranty for Nepros... They have an Authorized Warranty Station in Castro Valley...

NOID,NOID,NOID, I see a theme to your posts...Show me the best screwdrivers, the best of the best of the best sockets etc.

Ask 100 people and you will get 100 different answers, try this approach and see if it works; buy a tool with a good warranty if it fails which they all do if given long enough time (or just plain wear out) then send it in.

Good on noid.

I think this type of discussion is great and overdue.

Too often, the threads get hijacked by someone who for whatever reason has bought cheaper product and then spend their time justifying why, in their minds this is a better purchase than buying quality they usually feel the need to bash the quality brands.

I think like he said, keep this type of discussion out of these threads...there are a million others out there for that nonsense... if he is on a quest to find the best and the reasons why... discuss that

You offer your suggestion on which brand based on years and years of use only for someone to state that brand is junk but the brand that person has is so much better.

Until there is multiple independent laboratory testing, maybe something like consumer reports, this will always go around and around.

I agree with you guys... sometimes people just want the best of something no matter what.

For me it would be Snap-On, but not only for quality. I also like how they have virtually every size socket possible. Does anyone know how Hazet/Facom or others compare with size selection?

Well we could always turn this thread into a "OMG SEARS HAS CHINESE STUFF NOW!!!111" thread. thats even more popular than the good ole "just cause you suggested a snap on tool you are one of those people who only uses snap on and look down on people who dont" thread.

I can only speak for Facom as I have spent a few years buying loads of their tools. They do
cover every single size of socket from 3.2mm to 36mm and then most sizes from there
up to a 1" square drive 100mm socket. What Facom don't have is the semi deep type of
sockets that I know some members like.

They do have a massive catalogue of products though, from every type of hand tool you
can think of, to measuring equipment, electrical, micro electronics and lots of automotive
specialist equipment. Certainly the biggest name in tools in Europe, but I think that Snap-on
has THE biggest catalogue of products of any tool brand world wide.

Even just taking their ratchets for an example, they have a massive choice, much more
than any other brand I can think of. Price asside, it actually gave me a bit of headache
trying to decide which ones I would like... probably all of them....

I abuse my Snap-Ons on a regular basis. All of my swivel impact sockets are Snap-On and I've only ever had one fail and it was roughly twenty years old.

I have used my craftsman sockets since I was kid, my dad bought them for me in the summer of 1987. Just in the last couple of years upgraded to snap on,bought all sets used, and I really like them a lot. But I just work on my stuff in my garage.

good point about resale value i see snap on go for the most, sometimes more than retail. most people are not going to need 1000 sockets when they are retired so might as well sell them eventually so might at least try to get good money back down the road. snap ons are great, they all wear

Resale value would probably be the last thing on my mind. Why? You're going to lose a boat load of money on the Snap-On sets after selling used tools.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...roup_ID=676007&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

$375 for these, 50% of retail is what around $190? Even if they are in pristine condition. Maybe more like 30% of retail when used.

You can buy quite a few socket sets for that $190-$250 you are losing on those sockets.

NOT saying Craftsman is the best out there, but you buy once and never have to buy them again (unless you lose them). A 1/4" set like the above is roughly $50 but you also get SAE:

http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-...+pc+socket+set&prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=L1

For the Snap-On, $671 for the SAE and MM sets ($375 + $296 for SAE) vs $45 for the Craftsman. I'm *not saying* Craftsman is better than Snap-On, just remember both come with lifetime warranty. I remember a guy on here posted how he wore out his Craftsman sockets after 8 years of pro use. Instead of getting new ones (for free) he spent thousands on Snap-On. It's his choice of course.

My mostly CM with Armstrong and some Blue Point sockets have all work well. They work fine on even rusty bolts and nuts and I'm sure they would even if I used them daily. I've had very few issues with any of my tools.

I can't say who makes the highest quality sockets since I have not layed my own hands on all of the major brands and put them to any sort of test.
With that said, I would choose Snap On if I wanted to pay for the best.

The exact opposite can be said if you buy used or new with a discount. :dunno:

The key is how you word stuff here :lol_hitti. If you don't specify that money is no object and if you don't separate each tool into its respective thread then you get people talking about how this and that is not worth it to them, rather then how good one tool is over another.

I have my own favorites, but I love hearing opinions and doing more research.

Current favorite sockets are hazet; based purely on their own 'how its made' production video (as compared to the 'how its made' snap on episode no TV).

I like Noid's line of threads. I try to have the best in class of every tool i own irregardless of cost, COO, brand or ease of warranty.

For sockets, I chose Snap-on with the exception being Matco/Craftsman pinless impact swivels.

how about this, if you could have any brand socket, for FREE, which would you choose? based solely on quality, not warranty, not price value. just quality of the tool itself

I like this - I would prefer Hazet as well, their frosty looking chrome looks very durable.

its in the dictionary. it is a nonstandard word, which means its not commonly accepted, but very commonly used in speech. like many words people use in modern english.

dont see the point of your post either way tho. very common
