When ever the topic comes up about garage door openers and the Liftmaster 3800 vs. idrive is discussed I’m the one who says “I have the idrive and have been happy with it”. Well my idrive has given up the ghost and I’m getting estimates to convert my 18’ Wayne Dalton door to a highlift. I’m looking to get the Liftmaster 3800, so that means a new torsion bar and possibly replacing the entire track. I’m not sure if any of the Wayne Dalton track can be reused. The question I have has anyone done this type of conversion and what did it cost? I’m getting one estimate from Apple Door and another from A-1. I believe Apple Door is a national chain but not sure about A-1. I’m located in the Richmond Virginia area. Does anyone have any thoughts about how much this may cost or any input about Apple Door or A-1 Door.

Got my first quote of $800 from A-1. They are a locally owned and operated company. The quote covers new torsion bar, springs, highlift track coversion, and Liftmaster 3800 openner. Does that sound like a reasonable price?
