Stupid question, but are you pushing on something? My one hammer drill hammer only functions by pressing into the hammer piece. Held in the air, it just drills.

Yeah i tried that, doesn't seem to engage the function when you switch it on to hammer. When you switch to drill you can feel gears engaging.

Reading up on this in the manual, a parts disgram, and other forum threads, it appears to be similar to my Bosch 11202. So speaking out of my posterior here, maybe something will make sense for your Hilti.

On mine, the hammering action comes from a small cylinder and piston, with a weighted plunger, that is moved back anD forth by an eccentric in the gear train. The piston traps air in one end, which gives you the return spring action. On mine, bought used for $5, no hammer action was caused by the piston being glued in place with old dried grease. Cleaned it up, relubed it, and it worked. But it still needs to warm up a bit, to get the grease warm, to allow the piston to move. And even at 70 F, this takes a minute. Cold weather allow even longer. After not using for a few days, the warm up lengthens again.

Other threads suggested seals or oil may need replacing, and talked about warm up time, thus my suppositions.

Good luck.

BTW, your parts diagram showed more parts from the gear train forward, than are in my entire drill. And there were no names, only pictures, from a .ru website, so I didn’t get very far.
