Alright, so maybe its cause this is project 4 for today so the solution isnt coming to me. But I just cant think of the best hinge in order to accomplish what i am wanting to do.
So our camper has "underbed" storage. Pretty much it is just a 1x4 frame with 1/2" (or 3/4"...cant remember now) sheet on top of the frame. Then they cut out some of the sheet so there is a large "floating" section that is currently hinged so it splits in half and can be lifted from either side. The top sheet sits on the 1 by 4 frame. Hopefully the pic below explains it. What we are wanting to do is secure the top sheet so it doesnt move around. Currently with it just "floating" it is easy to get it off center and doesnt go down corretly.
Hopefully this picture explains it a bit

Without thinking i just grabbed a hinge i had and tried it only to realize it wouldnt work. Basically because the top "sheet" rests on the frame im not sure what sort of hinge would work best or even what type to do. The frame at the hinge point is ~1.5" (two 1x4" back to back) while each top sheet piece is only the half inch thick so a normal hinge just ends up pulling the whole thing out of position.
Hopefully that makes sense, if not i can try to get more pictures
