I picked this up today. I didn’t realize until I got home it was 5/16 drive, when I looked at it I thought it was 9/32. Unfortunately it is incomplete. Five of the seven original sockets, the box and what may or may not be the original crossbar for the handle. The decal is pretty beat and the box has no paint on the outside at all. Unless I missed it I could not find another example on GJ.

What a treat! Thank you for uploading the photos!

Finding Hinsdale is an uphill battle, but I hope you do find the missing pieces! Like the other member said, it isn't going to be easy. I'm actually in the same boat as you are, hahahaha! ^_^

If, by saying you are in the same boat you mean that you have some 5/16 drive pieces, please post some photos here. I’m particularly interested to know if my crossbar is correct. The one in the picture from AA appears longer than the one in my set, also mine is not knurled on one end.

Howdy! ^_^

My apologies. I should have been more specific.

I am in the same boat in the the sense that I have a J13 set of Hinsdales that have been incomplete for years. All I have needed are the sliding T-bar and the 3/8" ratchet. Both pieces needed are from the "Vanadium" era of the early 1930s.

Hinsdale is a tough brand to collect for. They are like a relationship, filled with thrills, anticipation, and heartbreak, hahahaha! ^_^

Sadly, I have a feeling that set will leave my hands incomplete by the time I finish the Craftsman Ratchet History series. -_-

Just really an update post. Was at a big swap meet yesterday, looking through a bin of old tools and I found the correct breaker bar for this set. Never thought I’d ever find another piece for this set. I wonder what my chances of finding the two missing sockets and cross bar is. 😂
What is the diameter of the hole for the cross bar?

Wow. The box measures 5” so the length looks spot on. None of the pieces of the set are marked Hinsdale. It could very well be the correct cross bar. Very generous of you. Thank you. Pm sent.
