Today I was lucky enough to run across a ratchet in the bottom of a box at the flea that confirms a link between the companies. A Hinsdale branded Bog (with patent number) manufactured 3/8" drive ratchet.

I've posted it on my site here: http://toolarchives.com/node/2760

Is Bog collectible? I got a set of Bog (typical pre-ratchet set with bent handle drive in a tin holder) in with a bunch of plomb/proto I bought. I'd thown the set in with the import throw-away's and odd tools to get rid of in a flat rate box assortment on ebay. Your post reminded me of it, so thought I would hijack and ask the question.
I guess that depends. Those would be interesting to me because I'm trying to document historical info. Probably a **** shoot on eBay but I've paid up for some Bog stuff with multiple bidders.

^ I don't see a heck of a lot of BOG on Ebay, and when I do it seems the sellers think it's gold-plated.
kinda same-same with Hinsdale stuff. can't imagine somebody shelling out a hundred bucks for a partial set of stamped sockets that sat out in a damp barn for fifty years, but maybe I'm just not a serious collector.

Just getting caught up on a few missed posts. is there any way you could show me both ratchets in question as side by side picture shots so I can get a better idea of what you are saying; along with the internals side by side.

Thanks.

Unfortunately Woody, I don't have a 3/8" Bog example, but several 1/2" drive. If you got to my site, the pic of the patent is there, clearly the Bog/Pepperdine patent. Same one used on the Plomb WF-37 made by Bog.
