I already have a black and white Makita 18 v and an older 18 Makita, that's pretty heavy. My question is, are these Hitachi drills at $67.00 from Loews worth a darn. It comes with one of those battery operated lights, that i could use in one of my barns that doesn't have electricity. Thanks in advance.

I use the same set at work for the last year and a half. It has held up well.

I also bought the same one for my father for Christmas last year and its still going strong.

For the price I can't complain at all.

FWIW - Consumer's Report rated the Hitachi 18v tops in their testing. For the price, it's hard to go wrong.

I bought the 18V lithium ion drill/driver/light combo a couple of winters ago. I don't use the drill as much as the driver but it has drilled hundreds of pockets holes for me. It's generally recommended to drill pocket holes with a corded drill and I have one for that but the cordless convenience makes me use it a lot. It has performed and held up great.

I was actually very fond of the light. My wife let me boys play with it and they broke it. Got it working, sort of, and then it went out again. Might tear into that over the holiday break.

They work great! my son took ours with him to build a set for a college play and never had to charge the batteries a second time during the entire build. He can back impressed with the length of charge, the ability to drive 3 inch screws with the impact and their light weight.

My BIL got one- not too long ago and loves his. I have an older Sears that I like pretty well. But it is nothing close to his.

Yes.

I have several production line workers using the Hitachi's .

Very good bang for the buck.

For me it's Milwaukee or Bosch first, then Hitachi a close third.
Ridgid for battery warranty program for home use.

Hitachi as a brand is pretty quiet, but the tools are very good in my experience.

I have the lithium 18v hitachi drill/driver kit. I chose it based on its ergonomics, it just comfortable in the hand unlike the Rigid for example. It has yet to disappoint me yet. I've become a fan of Hitachi tools lately. They make some quality power tools.
