hi, i have three hitachi litium ion 18 volt cordless tools; drill, impact and jigsaw. they work well but the charger is acting weird. it is UC18YKSL and it appears to randomly stop charging, i.e. the led goes off and stays off. these tools arent very old, maybe 3 months.

battery seems to always have a charge when it comes out of the charger, i dont know if its a full charge. sometimes the charger works normally, other times no led activity at all. took apart the charger and didnt see any oddities or fuses.

i checked amazon reviews and the charger gets bad reviews. is there a better replacement charger that is solid?

Are you able to get the light to come on if you jiggle or tap on the charger with the battery in place?

I have a much older Hitachi 18v charger (remaining battery is lithium, for what it is worth) and it either recently started doing the same thing or I've just never noticed. Since the battery is around seven years old I can't say for sure if it's a battery or charger issue.

At any rate, I have been able to get the LED to come on by tapping on the charger and/or battery.
