Hitachi C12FDH miter saw laser

Hi; There is a Hitachi C12FDH double miter saw for sale in my area. The only thing not working is the laser. Has any one dealt with this problem on one of these saws ? I was wondering if it was cheap to fix or if its the laser itself that usually goes out on them? Its $87 for the laser itself.

I don't have the Hitachi but a competitor brand. The laser isn't dead-on accurate so sometimes I use the saw without the laser and just cut to the mark.

That's what I was going to do if I get it but was wondering if it was something that happens to this model and might be something small.
