Hi,

Has anybody here used Hitachi cordless tools? I'm looking at this set and was wondering if anybody here has used it before.

I've been looking to buy a cordless drill/impact combo. I was intially looking at the Milwaukee or Makita drill/impact combo set that sell at Home Depot for about $300, but I have found the Hitachi combo locally for $100 less.

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

I have the drill and the flashlight. The drill is light weight, that's the good part. It's also underpowered, but if you get the impact maybe that won't matter. For $100 it would be a good deal.

One of my friends has and loves that set. His does not have the flashlight though.

Good to know, thank you! :)

It's $100 less, which makes it $200. I wish it were $100; I'd buy 2 sets. :eyecrazy:

How long does it take to get a full charge and how long does the charge usually last?

Thanks guys! :)

I have the 12volt set and love it I use the impact every day it takes about an hour to get a full charge and it lasts all day if it was me I'd buy the set and an extra battery and just leave a battery on the charger all the time it's what I do and it works perfect for me hope that helps

I've had the exact 2 piece set (drill and flashlight) for about 10 months now, charges quick, runs a long time between charges, it comes with two batteries. I have no issues with the amount of power it has. My one complaint is the keyless chuck should be stronger, it will spin bits sometimes. I had another good Hitachi 18v before this one, it was a slightly different style, still had the lit-ion batteries, was about 2 years old when somebody decided they needed it more than I did and took it.

Looks like I'm a bit late, but I was thrilled with my old NiMH 18v set....but then I found out that their new lithium ion batteries are backwards compatible with my old tools (and my old batteries are forwards compatible with new tools as well) and now I'm even more thrilled.

I REALLY appreciate it when a company builds quality stuff at a reasonable price, and continues to support their stuff via reasonably priced upgrades, instead of requiring me to buy a whole new set.

I have that set, and an older drill. Recharges take 20-30 minutes. The battery lasts a long time, for me. For instance, Friday, I was using it to drill some holes through some 10 gauge hot rolled steel. They were not big holes, 1/4" is all. I easily drilled 16 holes in them without recharging, and the battery still had life in it. One thing I like about the Li Ion batteries is they have pretty much have full power until it is time to charge. In the time I have had them, I have never had the problem of one battery being discharged, while the other was being charged. I highly recommend them, even if it is a Japanese manufacturer building in China.

We did try them for work, but found out they were a pain in the A** to find a repair facility. You might want to keep that in mind.
Kinda like buying a Nissan and the dealer is 100 miles from you when you need service.

I bought these two little guys at a pawn shop with chargers and 2 batteries each for $20 about a year ago and I LOVE them. I have used the living daylights out of them taking apart electronic items and getting under the dash of vehicles etc and I have only charged them once the whole time with them being used at least once a week.

We use them at work also and love them. We also do any repairs (broken triggers etc..,) ourselves real easy to get parts and work on.
