Hitachi 12" 15-Amp Dual Bevel Compound Laser Miter Saw

Anyone have any experience with this saw? been doing alot of trim work in the house lately (have one floor out of 3 done) and possibly a small porch project this summer. ive been borrowing my dads older, i believe, Delta. it does the job but not a real clean cut and its getting old asking to borrow it all the time. So ive come to the conclusion that its time to buy my own. was hoping to stay under $300 and would like a laser. Looks like guys have got this saw on sale for $199 before but i dont know if that was a black friday sale or what

That link is for a washing machine/miter saw combo tool, what will they think of next ;) go dewalt on the miter, just get the 12 inch single compou (model 715?) get a 10$ blade bolt laser and and look into the crown moulding stop attachments, awesome addition for an additional 25-30$

I picked that one up for 199.99 about a year ago and it has worked flawlessly. I have completely redone the trim on our house and many other jobs for others and I am still on the stock blade also.

If you dont mind sliding or flipping material to be cut over in reference to how the saw will cut then get a single. double just saves time if you use it a lot but they are bigger and more $$ etc.. U can do the same thing with either. I like the dewalt miters because the saw is quality and the available attachments etc. Plus it matches my nifty collapsable dewalt miter stand (almost a necessity with any miter) no offense because this was once said to me but, "if you have to ask whether to buy a single or double bevel miter then all you need is a single" ;)
Get this combo even if u just get saw/stand at first...lasers are cheap add ons but over rated...i have this exact setup and whiz through crown, shoe, chair molding, it will even cut a 6x6 board like butter. No complaints and i am a fault finding tool nazi lol..
-links just for reference and info these are not hot deal links

Non taken.... the miter I've used is a single. It is a pain flipping the wood to make cuts. I thought for the money, double bevel, and laser, 5 yr warrenty the hitachi was a good deal. Even better if I could wait till it went on sale but was hoping to buy this week

In my experience the laser on any saw is never perfectly aligned and only there to show the homeowners where not to put their fingers.

If it has one then fine but there's no way on earth I would pay extra for one.

Having said that, i have a few Hitachi tools and generally find them very good.
Makita also being good.
Not keen on De-Walts offerings, either low on power or have a really **** design for the guard with a nasty little wheel thing that catches on the moldings being cut.

To be fair to De-Walt, the 715 isn't one of the ones I take exception to.
Looks a fairly decent saw but they don't sell it over here.

This other thing however, is absolutely dire. I've used a few of them now and wouldn't have one given.

And the flip saws always seem like a good machine, they have masses of features which seems like a good idea.
Problem is that they do so many things that the design is a total compromise and they don't do a single thing well. They were **** when when they were made by Elu and changing the name to De-Walt hasn't made them any better. Avoid.
