I've tried to order from HJE several times in the past, mainly because of their cult-like following here on the GJ but their freight charges kept me from completing the order- in most cases it was 30-50% of the merchandise price.
Sorry, I just don't get the hype. (sorry Jeff!) Maybe if I made the pilgrimage to KC to see it in person it would change my perception. I grew up there, still have family there, so maybe someday.

The issue is the OP came in insinuating that HJE was not allowing negative reviews. . The reality is there is just likely something wrong with their website, or with how OP was inputting information.

I could careless about online reviews. Real tool stores at least in my area do not have reviews. I appreciate the reviews and comments on GJ especially for unfamiliar brands

Tis is what i learned from this thread. There is a hammer and railroad tool manufacturer in Wheeling, West Virginia called Warwood Tool Company started in 1854

The common drilling hammer size is 3 lb. My favorites are the Blue-point and Mac anti-vibe. A 2 lb is fairly uncommon in a wooden handle

Anyways HJE bought a sh-t ton of 2 lbers from Warwood in a factory closeout. The question is how bad or unusable are they without seeing actual pictures

I usually need a bunch of small stuff so I just "add a buck" to each item in my head to convince myself it's no biggy with the shipping. Even at $1 more per item they are a great deal.

I browsed their website a few times and didn't see anything I was interested in that wasn't cheaper elsewhere. Mostly SK stuff.

They have a storefront on Amazon, I check there before ordering and generally it is less total money.

I’ve left good reviews and nothing shows up, must not use that feature.

Quite a thread here. : )

To clear things up, HJE does have a reviewing system that doesn't get used that often. I'm the one that approves/disapproves comments. I did see the OP's review and declined to post it because it contained incorrect information about the product. The Warwood hammer in question isn't a second. It's a regular stock item that came directly from their warehouse when they decided to do some spring cleaning.

In terms of the overall quality, we've sold hundreds of these things and haven't heard any complaints. (Well, I guess one now). Warwood's an excellent manufacturer with a long history but even the best mess up a time or two. So the most likely explanation is that they screwed up on one hammer.

When we send out a tool someone isn't happy with we always try to make it right. If the OP, or anyone else, has any other question about how we deal with reviews, returns or anything else I'd be happy to answer them.
