I have talked with them a couple of times as I am searching for the "perfect" lift. Good tech support and they are patient and answered all my questions. They are within driving distance of Grand Rapids, so that makes them the closest "discount" distributor of lifts, which is why I called them.

I like the prices.

That is what got me...I mean I may just have to get a lift at that price plus they have the low clearance job that will fit in my 10'footer.....we'll see

I just bought one of their Atlas 3000 pound wireless remote winches last week. Ordered it Wednesday afternoon and it was delivered Friday afternoon. Great customer service. It comes with a free mounting plate right now also. I haven't mounted the winch to my trailer yet. Will post about that when I get it put on.

Prices are so low, it worries me.

I would be extremely concerned about the overall quality and safety of any lift priced that much below $3,000.00. No doubt it was manufactured in China. Some major lift manufactures such as Bend Pak and Ben Pearson have some or most of their equipment manufactured in China. Put their name on them and a guarantee. They are priced just above $2,000.00.

Remember the price is shortly forgotten as quality lives on.

Trust me the safety, is my main concern......I'm a bit off from getting one...I'm still at "we'll see"

Hi, new guy here. I was looking throught he posts and found this thread so I thought I would reply. I bought a 4 post lift from Smith. I live close enough to be able to go to their show room. They are a well established business in Indy and supply many of the car dealers with their lifts.

They shipped my lift to me for $75. This was a local delivery so I'm sure this is not what most of you can expect. However, since the weght of this lift makes it very hard to take it home myself, they could have charged me more than twice that but didn't. I think they are a great company to deal with that has been in the lift business for a long time.

Just a question for the people that keep saying they wouldnt buy it or use it because it is cheap, does anyone have any photos/stories of catostrophic failures :ie collapse with injury or death, or is it just buy american lingo? I am wondering this because I have bought many american tools of all sizes and shapes across the years and have also bought cheapo tools from who knows where and really have had good luck with all of them ( with the exception of chincy hand tools) but I have a chinese M/c lift......works fine, didnt self destruct or implode with an american bike on it. Chinese jackstands that have held up my crew cab dually . chinese engine crane that lifted the front of my f-350 roll back off the ground while attached to the 7.3 diesel ( caught on frame rail with overambitious helper ) and never once had a problem. So I really cant see where a "chinese" lift can be a real big deal ....UNLESS..... it is being used for commercial purposes going up and down every single day with 20 different mechanics abusing it. than I see a need for a "high quality" lift.

Rizzorace,

There are a few things the members here can pull up. Like the guy that bought the Pep-Boys engine hoist that bent. But, I betcha for every Chinese tool failure we can pull up a quality USA made tool failure.

What you WILL hear is a bunch of guys that either "Refuse to trust it personally" or SWEAR to know someone, or someone that knows someone that almost lost their life under a Chinese made lift, engine hoist, engine stand, pole jack, yada yada yada, or better yet, are just bashing it because it's Chinese and thus it is inferior quaility even if the same people, equipment, and supplies were relocated to China to make it.

I went to the Barrett Jackson auction this january and there were three or four lift vendors there. Superlifts,BendPak and a couple of others were represented. Salesman for Superlift said his lifts were made in usa but they were bringing an economy model in from overseas for the hobby market that would be under 10ft. He said that market was growing fast and that he expected others would soon follow.Rotary was my first choice since some are made here in Indiana and my company hauls them around the country but my local dealer told me a short 10ft model wasn't available. I ended up with a 2-post lift from Complete Hydraulics of Franklin In for under $2,000.00. The saleswoman offered to get me a Rotary or a coulpe of other other brands they carry but after a side by side comparison I opted for the 10,000lbs 9ft6in telescopic arm model that is assm in texas with overseas castings. This is the same process that Hurco cmc machines uses and I have found them quite satisfactory. I also was worried about getting under a vehicle on an import lift so for a little piece of mind I went to the 10,00lbs lift instead os the 7,000lbs model. Trying to get this installed as soon as time permits so if I don't post pictures soon you will know what happened and not to buy one. (kidding)

A good portion of the Chinese = dangerous, I believe has been perpetuated by some of the more expensive US made lift salesman. When I was shopping for my lift, I checked into as many as I could find and without skipping a beat, all salesman of US manufactured lifts used this scare tactic to justify the high cost of their products. In many cases, they were twice the price of their imported competitors. I also found in at least one case, they allowed you to believe their lift was made in the US when in fact it was not.. I’ve only heard of one lift failing and that was due to it not being adjusted properly. From what I recall, it did not cause an injury or damage to the car. I don’t even know the brand.

I assembled my lift by myself but since I had never done this before and it’s potential for disaster, I had a professional come and check my work before I put a car on it. As it turned out, I did a fine job. They are not that difficult to assemble…although some parts are heavy as hell.

I am in the steel business here in the US, and I can attest that the biggest difference is the MATERIAL.
Not only is the Chinese manufacturing quality suspect, but, the material is WAY suspect.

I attended Spring Carlisle last year, and witnessed a Chinese lift FAIL COMPLETELY when a golf cart ran into one of the legs !!!!! Yes, a GOLF CART !! This thing folded up like a coat hanger. And, one of the legs ripped like a sheet of aluminum foil. NO KIDDIN'
And that was with no car on it.

Yes, I was there, I saw it with my own 2 beadie little eyes.

You talk about a bunch of guys gettin' that thing apart and out of sight quickly ...WOW

Anyway, is there a difference.???... You bet. For my money, I'll buy AMERICAN.
