Lots of digital calipers can show fractions. I’ve never wanted the feature, but people seem to like it.Oh, and who has a caliper that measures in fractions? Get a chart. LOL
And we won't answer why. Every Kennedy tool box has a conversion chart in the lid. Ahahahahhaha. Kidding of course.Lots of digital calipers can show fractions. I’ve never wanted the feature, but people seem to like it.
Now that shows pure ZEN.I can't wait to retire.
So many wonderful things to do.
I bought one specifically for woodworking that shows fractions.Frankly its a hole in wood, not a critical part of the International Space Station. Y'all need to relax a little.

And the dimensions may not be critical for a space station, but if I need it to fit a particular size. Dowel and it doesn't fit. That's kind of a problem for me
Well I will admit that the first problem is if I buy a 3/4-in dowel, how big is it really. That's not the correct but if you're looking to get a precise (wood) dowel fit
Most electronic calipers do mm, decimal AND fractions.Oh, and who has a caliper that measures in fractions? Get a chart. LOL
3/4" bolt through a 4x6.Well I will admit that the first problem is if I buy a 3/4-in dowel, how big is it really.
Wooden dowel. Dowels, are often not uniform or highly accurate in width. And if I will glue it in place it must fit precisely so the hole must be correct.3/4" bolt through a 4x6.
Yes, a hammer will make it fit.
^^ This isn't getting the love it deserves. Is this really Dunning-Kruger at play, or a test?
As my Dad was found of quoting "It's a fence. We're not building a piano. It's close enough."Frankly its a hole in wood, not a critical part of the International Space Station. Y'all need to relax a little.

Excellent advice. What size plug would you recommend for welding up 1/8" holes in sheet metal? It's a bit for wood not metal. Drill the hole and hammer the bolt in if you need to. Tighten the nut and be done with it
Epic. Just epic and I thank you.As my Dad was found of quoting "It's a fence. We're not building a piano. It's close enough."
I'm thinking I don't want to see your hand cut. Dovetails on any cabinets you build.... Or maybe I do, might make me feel better about mine. It's a bit for wood not metal. Drill the hole and hammer the bolt in if you need to. Tighten the nut and be done with it
Did you spit on it first?3/4" bolt through a 4x6.
Yes, a hammer will make it fit.
There's absolutely a difference. The snail forces a feed rate of whatever the thread pitch is. That's fine for blasting holes in studs, but it can be too fast for stuff that's harder to drill. If you look at auger bits used in braces, they have much finer threads.
I have three different thread pitches on different auger bits. My good RJ ones have a very fine threads. My coarse single spirals are much coarser. And some that seem in between might be double start, I’ve never counted them.If you look at auger bits used in braces, they have much finer threads.
