I have this propensity to just skip over threads that don't interest me. Oh wait, I'm commenting here....... Well usually :)

Since garages and things related to garages are restricted by HOA covenants and rules, its an essential that matters are discussed. If someone is planning on building a dream garage it would be nice to know before buying a place that is in a HOA could cause problems for their dream build.

More restrictions....you must be a fan of HOAs.....kidding....:lol_hitti:beer::p

And This. :D

Garage Journal has a free parking prohibition on discussion of politics & religion. I think we should add a prohibition on discussing the plusses & minuses of HOAs for the same reasons.

Not This.

If you want a debate free zone, go into your garage. Turn off the phone and TV. Enjoy!
Here on GJ there are sometimes strong opinions, especially concerning HOA's and the sometimes seemingly draconian measures they impose. It is important that we know about them and how they operate from all points of perspective including those that benefit from them as well as those that operate them.

Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and the other person's always stinks....well, there was this one chic I knew....lol

I have struggled with our HOA and have said many times that it will be the last time I buy a house with one, but I've eaten my words many times before.

I see the points of those who don't want another prohibition.

The reason for my suggestion is that discussions of the plusses & minuses of HOAs seem to be like discussions of religion & politics in that:

  1. It frequently turns into an internet shouting match
  2. Everyone rehashes the same points
  3. No one changes their mind
  4. Go to #1

I closed the recent one. I'll admit, I didn't read all of the posts in it. But some of what I did see drifted far enough into political issues that closing it seemed the right thing to do, given the rules.

You have a point...but I don't see how more censorship is the answer. :dunno:
