Hobart 210i

Picked up one of these through work from Airgas, got a nice deal on it.

I was looking to buy the LX 225AC/160DC, but according to the rep, they were being discontinued and none were in stock.

Seems like everything is moving to inverter type, at least for stick welders. Thing is about half the size of my 187 mig welder. Weighs about nothing as well.

I wont be able to futz with it until sometime this weekend, unfortunately. I'm very curious to see how it works.

I hate to see the small Hobart/Miller transformer welders discontinued. Congratulations on the 210i, most of the new inverter welders do weld smooth and strike a arc very easy.

Me too. I've had a couple of the transformer machines and there really isn't much that can go wrong with them. That said, the new inverter welders do have a nice, stable arc, strike easily and seem to run a lot hotter than their amperage indicates.

Being simple and reliable is what I really like about the transformer welders. Kinda been expecting them to to disappear in favor of the inverters, bought a new Miller Thunderbolt XL 225-150 ac-dc last year.
