Here's my old Gruen.

I really like that. Very nostalgic.

I got back into wearing a watch after I took a cruise last year and I tried to depend on my cell phone for keeping time. LOL! Especially confusing when in port and the ship announces they are following ship time, not port time. I almost bought a nice watch from the store on board, but I'm glad I didn't.

Started learning the market and discovered that a lot of unscrupulous cruise employees have been known to swap out the insides of a watch for counterfeit parts.
I jumped with my first selection being a Titanium Citizen solar that keeps time with the atomic clock. Nice watch, but too many buttons, bells and whistles. I sits in my watch box all the time.
I then discovered the world of mechanical automatics and the Seiko lineup was right in my ballpark.
I'd love a Grand Seiko or a Rolex, but it's just not something I would spend that kind of money on. I'll stick to readjusting the minute hand once a week vs. shelling out 5 figure$ to ******** my wrist. I'll put that towards a vacation home instead.

I've been collecting depression glass and antique pottery for about 20 years now. This is only a small fraction. Pretty low testoserone for a male dominated tool forum, I know. Thing is, I make money on antiques. I blow money on tools. LOL.

Nice. But my wife would freak out if I "cluttered up" her kitchen like that. :willy_nil
She's a clean counter girl. Even lost her mind when Mom gave us a Kitchenaid Mixer that has to sit on the counter. She refuses to have an electric can opener too.

things have changed for me since i last posted in this thread.

i sold my off road toy '88 s-10 blazer, and gave the guy every spare part i had laying around for it. also listed what parts i used for the eng/trans swap, and axle swap.

loaded up a bunch for **** i had laying around in the garage and tossed it all in the trash/scrap.

i got back (deeper) into shooting competition. from an occasional, once a month, match to shooting 4 or 5 matches a month.

USPSA, steel challenge, rimfire challenge and rimfire falling steel. bought several more guns, made some minor modifications to them, and of course the otehr "stuff" that goes along with them, IE: pistol bags, rifle bags, 2nd range bag, mag carriers, competition belts, and a new holster for my USPSA open gun.

spent the last couple winter's reorganizing, and doing a "remodel" of my reloading room to try to get a little more organized.

i do my reloading over the winter for USPSA & steel challenge, and buying the 6000 +/- rds of 22LR i use during match season.

BBQ, we have a food trailer that we sell smoked pork, brisket, ribs, beans and mac and cheese at events and in our town. Even though it is work and busy to us it is just a hobby that makes money.

Off road, we have a side by side we use a bunch, 2200 miles and have not had a year yet.

Drones and rc cars and crawlers, wife does the crawling with me also.

I like cutting up the brush and fallen trees in the woods, we live on 6 acres of woods so there is plenty to do.

RATTLESNAKES! I love finding, observing and photographing Rattlesnakes. They are amazing creatures. Love all animals, Reptiles, amphibians, insects, spiders, birds, mammals and love photographing all of these animals. Love hiking and camping so I can find all of those animals to photograph. Even the tools I get or just for keeping my CRV in shape for making trips out to observe animals. My nature hobby started at 7, now I am 51, 44 year long hobby.

The real hobby is Drinking on Boats. This brings along some side hobbies that are noble causes in of themselves:
Maintenance of Boats
Making Boat Parts
Side Fabrication business to help supplement the boat habit.

Tools and garage stuff is all just a means to an end.

Have been into SCUBA, Snowmobiles, but wife and kids **** up enough money that something had to give and the Boat is the one we can do together the easiest.

Hobbies include homebrewing (beer, cider, mead, etc), welding, music (guitar, drums, bass, piano), and what I guess you could call "mancrafting" - making beer coozies, signs, shirts, hats, etc.

I've collected old tools, mostly drilling related hand tools, for over 40 years, and continue to accumulate them when I find something I don't have but can afford. I've been interested in home sized wind generators and have one in operation and a few others in the shed, but have had a lot of them from time to time. Nowadays however, solar electric makes more sense for practical energy production, and I've been using PVs since the early 1980s. I've had lots of cameras (screw mount Leicas and Nikon SP rangefinder, etc.), motorcycles (especially 500cc class 4stroke singles), and old VWs ranging from a 1954 Beetle to a 65 Double Cab. As I got older, had kids, got knee and back problems, and found my interests changing, I sold most of the cameras, motorcycles, cars, old engines, and in the last year sold the last couple of pallets of VW parts. Still have tools and lots of books--about 7000 according to my spreadsheet that I maintain to avoid spending money on duplicates that I don't need. Books on early technology, railroads, steam engines, gardening, raising fruit, science fiction, mysteries, local history, old tool catalogs, etc., fill the walls of our house.

WisJim - i too suffer from bibliomania, did you literally mean a home grown spreadsheet or do you have a book inventory app? i use readerware but am always looking to see if there is something better

One of my 'hobbies' if you can call it that, is collecting original vintage motorcycle 'motormobilia'. Everything from license plates, oil cans, patches, old pins, fobs, trophies, toys, early posters, literature, books, photographs, racing programs, clothing, hats, helmets, goggles, signs, whistles, novelties, actual parts and the list goes on and on. This a small part of my collection in my shop office.

Wish I still had the hundreds of motorcycle things I sold over the years. Worth a lot more money today.

Where do you buy 6,000 rounds of .22 LR ammo?

i stock up over the winter when i'm not shooting. i had been buying ammo 1000 or so at a time locally, cabelas, and stock & field ( big R stores) always had what i was looking for, and for reasonable prices.
during the winter demand goes down, and prices drop every couple months.

this year i kept putting off buying ammo, (i'd just bought 2 more guns over the winter) and kinda got caught with my pants down when the covid **** started.
i managed to pick up 2400 rounds this summer.

match "season" is winding down, couple gun clubs have quit a month early, mainly due to low attendance.

mechanics is my hobby, I wanted to be a mechanic but couldn't get started in the trade, ended up baking for 50 yrs.
I now play mechanic in my garage, i got all the gear and no idea.
But baking and cooking, thats something I do know.
I make pastry videos on youtube to counter the BS youtube "chefs".
Pity as I would have been a good mechanic.

Demolition derbies, circle track racing with demo derby cars (called the bomber class), fabrication, machining, scuba diving. Had to slow down once little one came but I’ll always be a gearhead.

I have been a hobbyist builder/restorer of classic cars, trucks, boats, buses, motorcycles etc. my whole life, being brought up in that environment from a very young age. I have never been without at least a few major projects underway at any given time.
Things progress a bit slower today but are better thought out. Lately, my AV8 Model A coupe is finally getting the attention it deserves.

My new hobby is getting back into biking after not doing it since '07. It has kind of turned into a wake up call to how out of shape I am in that I pretty much can't even really enjoy it. It has set in a motion of conditioning myself and working to get in better shape so my heart doesn't explode when I get out on to the trail.
