Hockey Equipment Rack

After getting tired of drying out my hockey equipment on the hood of my project truck, I decided to throw together this quick drying rack to help clean up a bit, unfortunately the equipment used to be able to live in the house and be aired out inside but since the fiancee and I moved in together it has been kicked out of the house.

Letting the equipment sit wet will ruin it in no time. I've been playing ice hockey since I was 7 and have always air my stuff out, while a friend of mine from college never does and he managed to ruin a $400 pair of skates in about 1.5 years just from them being wet/moldy all the time.

Luckily I managed to have all of the material on hand, and only had to buy the rod for the metal shelves and robe hooks for the hangers. I didn't paint the metal rod and it is now rusting and discoloring some stuff the rests directly on it....need to fix that.

The skates are hanging from wooden rod from a closet redo in the house.

Figured I'd share since there must be other people out there with smelly stuff for either themselves or their kids.

it was really bad when i'd take my stepson with me to play rat hockey..
she wouldnt let me drive her car

i made a simple tree out of PVC pipe for my stuff to dry on.
nothing to absorb moisture, or rust

Nice! My son is in his 4th year and loves it. Seems like a nice project we can work on together. He hardly ever falls and always looks like he just came out of the lake after a game. Sweats his **** off, LOL...

You can get stainless steel rod and hooks from places such as McMaster-Carr. Pricey but good. And I definitely understand your GF making you move your gear outside. that "Eau de Hockey" is pretty bad! Having played myself for 30 years and carting my son all over the countryside for his travel hockey for years, well, if she puts up with you and your hockey she's a keeper! Pics of your GF!

always looks like he just came out of the lake after a game.

i started playing inline when i lived down in florida, after i moved back north, there was no ice rink close by, but found a couple indoor inline rinks i played at for several years.
my stuff was always soaking wet,
i quit playing when i was 50, i'd start sweating just tying my skates :lol_hitti
