This happen yesterday at my work. Truck was on it's way down after a servicing and a combination of mechanical and human error caused this accident. Luckily nobody was nearby except for the Technican who was operating the hoist. Scared the **** out of him. The casualties was only the computer terminal, another Tech's tool chest/cabinets, work bench and maintaince servicing equipments.

Need bigger picts.

When you say hoist, do you mean lift? How did it happen?

I seen a fool put a Towtruck on a lift and it went up fine. But the minute he pulled the transmission out it fell off, lucky he ran from under it...

This reminds me of when I took my old F150 Eddie Bauer edition truck in for an oil change at Firestone (mistake #1). The "technician" (for lack of a better term) popped the cluch on the way down and the truck lurched off the lift insto their wheel balancer. Did like $2,000 worth of damage to my truck.

Accidents DO happen. We just have to be careful that we take every precaution to avoid them. Have they estimated how much damage was done to your shop and the vehicle?

What kind of lift was it? I don't see anything in the pics.

Here is a few more photos after they used two heavy tow trucks to flip this truck back upright. These are below ground hoists. Notice rear lift behind upright truck rear wheels and front lift near front wheels painted yellow at bottom photo. Second photo shows damage work station/tool boxes.

I see...
I used a similar two post inground lift many years ago. It was much smaller, of course, for cars and light trucks. Each post had it's own control valve and it was challenging to coordinate the posts when lifting or lowering the vehicles.

Thankfully nobody was hurt.

So were they over weighted? Looks like the rear lift snapped and fell in the hole.
