i should be picking up a used two post hoist and I'm wondering how to install it. I'm figuring it will be 220v I'm not worried about wiring it what I'm worried about installing it and making it work safely :headscrat

you do mean a car lift right?
you lag the suckers to the concrete.
you must have reinforced concrete
at least 5 inches thick
post must be perpendicular to each other and plumb.

yes car lift how do you calibrate the arms together IE install the cables and adjust i don't want this thing falling on me

If you listed to the clicking sound of the saftey locks and use them as a guide- tightening the equalizinf cables should be obvious. You'll want to put a little tention on each, then adjust. Probably will make your adjustments to the "slave" side- meaning the hydraulic ram furthest from the power unit. Once you get both sides clicking at the same time- you should be fine.

I had the advantage of removing my used lift from the PO's shop and i took lots of measurements. The most importatnt thing is to have the post square to each other...you'll be amazed at how easy this is to do after you've done it.
