5 hp 240v motor, was woprking when stored, no use for it now

Anyone know if the distance between the posts can be shorten?

what state is it in, do you get snow?

It's in Canada where we do get a sh!t load of snow.
There is no mention of how long it's been sitting out there, although it could not have been there for very long time since it's not extremely rusty.

What worries me the most in the picture is the massive hole on the left post.

Looks like one of those instances where you'd spend more by trying to save money. Not to mention the headache. Avoid imo.
