Hoist Pendant Control Question

I am replacing the ARO pneumatic hoist in my shop and recently picked up a Coffing single phase 2 ton chain hoist. It is missing the pendant control, but is otherwise in decent shape. It is 115/230 volt 1PH and has a built in transformer for 24 volt control.I will be feeding it with 230 volt power. The factory replacement parts are stupid expensive and I was wondering if any of the cheap chinese pendants on Amazon or Ebay would work.I don't find any that say they are rated for 24 volt and I am not sure this matters. It is a model JLC4008-1-10...photos attached. I was kind of hoping this cheapy would work..COB-61

That will work. That is a very simple hoist. I would suggest going with a pendant with an E stop button. While you cant hook up the E stop to kill the power to the hoist you could at least run the X1 Com power thru the button and then to the up down switches.

This would allow you to at least kill power to the pendant if a switch sticks.

I am willing to give you this old Harbor Freight hoist control for the cost of shipping. The switch is good and the case is intact. Electrically the switch should work well with the diagram you posted.

Note I remover the capacitor from the control so it is very light weight so you would want to add a weight and no cap is required for your hoist.

Send me a PM if you want it.

Walt

The Amazon control is electrically what you require according to the answers it has two normally open switches and its metal case would require a ground wire so you would need 4 conductor cable.

Each button should have NO, & NC, contacts wired so that if you push both simultaneously nothing happens, adds a margin of safety against people doing stupid things. It is very simple to wire.

why? It has a reversing contactor. There is a mechanical interlock built in to prevent that from happening.

Both mechanical & electrical interlocks can't hurt.
Sure it does, it hurts the pocket book, it over complicates things for no good reason, and it add room for error as there is no schematic for the OP to follow for what you propose. And it doesn't increase safety over what is there.

KISS principle at its finest.

That is not what the manufacture designed and drew in their diagram.

Seems to me trying to out think the engineers that designed the unit is generally not a good plan and tends to end badly for me.

Thanks Walt, but I decided to get a fairly cheap one from Hoosier Crane because they also have the Duct-O-Wire 16/3 control cable w/ internal strain relief for an excellent price so I can extend the pendant to 12ft. https://www.hoosiercrane.com/drivecon-hs61p-2-button-pendant-contol

I thought so...the actual Coffing replacement pendant with an 11ft cable is almost $500

Hi Walta, It's been several months since you offered to Mr onetwo an "old Harbor Freight hoist control for the cost of shipping." Do you still have it? I'd sure be willing to take that offer, or even buy it from you. I picked up a hoist that works well and looks nearly new, but the pendant is broken, ugly and unsafe. I'd have PMed you, but I can't figure out how to do it...(newby) dang! Thank you.
