Hello All,

I have a question, I am finalising my 56ft x 30ft garage and have been advised by a the concreter that I need to add pads for the 2 post hoist.

As this will be the only perminent hoist I need to make sure it is in the best position. I have had differing stories by a number of so called experts regarding the need for pads.

I would rather install the 2 poster after I have everything else installed.

The slab will be 4" (100mm) with 1 row of R82 reo.

Help needed,

STIFFY

I have a two post 9000 lb lift/hoist and my concrete slab is 4" 3500 PSI with just fiber reinforcement. The equipment company that did the install said my concreate met the minimun requirements and there was no need to put in thicker pads.

It's best to contact the manufacturer of the lift and ask what the minimum requirements are. My new 2 post lift (a mohawk system 1) requires 4.5", 4000 psi concrete. Don't get stories from "experts", call the lift manufacturer and they'll tell you exactly what you need, and don't need.

Many lifts in the 9K range only require 4" of concrete. However, Piper has a good point, just contact the manufacturer of the lift you are thinking about and they will tell you the requirements. Many (like Rotary/bendpak) have it right on their websites.

On mine I went with a 6" rebar reinforced slab with 3' X 3' by 2' deep caissons under the lift arms. Overkill? Absolutely, cause I'm worth it. It's also worth it not to have to worry about it... EVER.

One other item: Make sure there is no rebar in/under the area where you will need to drill for the bolts.
