Hey all, i've got two Holdridge Radii Cutters, one is a 3-D and the other is an 8-D. I'm looking for replacement tool bit for them, and i'm wondering if anyone has used square shank bits in these Radii cutters? If not, where can I find replacement bit? Thanks!

I think you have to make them. The 3D is no good for anything. I will take it off your hands if you pay shipping.

Holy ****, $1500! Well no surprise, these things have always gone for good money.... years ago, can't imagine the prices now! I thought I would never own one but I scored a 3S for $200 in excellent shape. I didn't even bother to try & haggle. But it was upstate, luckily I lil brother lived there at the time, the stars align & I was able to have it buy it for me.

Mine came with some bits but I wanted replacements. Originals from Holdridge are expensive & their indexable cutters are even more stupid expensive.

I purchased some indexables from Mesa Tool. I haven't got around to shortening the other two.

Hahaha I only paid $600 for it actually, but that is a great idea to go to Mesa tools! I've been looking around for round shaft indexable bit, they are just what I'm looking for. Thanks for letting me know about these!

Well, gentlemen, I can finally gloat over my Holdridge 3D, it was on EBay with seller with bad reviews but i got it for $300, which I was happy to pay. I contacted him before bidding, Eprey had cancelled the sale and refunded the buyers (for this actual item) money because of no contact or shipping. I contacted the seller and he was honest, no stories, old guy who said he got sick, was winter, stuck in house and after a while forgot. I took a chance and got it. It was cheap because it was advertised a Ralmike radius cutter, but was a Holdridge and nobody realized It.

I was looking hard at Mesa Tools cutters too, same insert and holder, and by coincidence saw DarkZeros postings. I cut mine down and used them to make a couple of balls to teach myself how to use the cutter, I can tell you they worked wonderfully on 12L14. (I know, it cuts sweet.)
Good luck with yours, both of you, Yes the Holdridge is a delight to use.

Awesome! Thank you very much for your reply this is a huge help. I just ordered two of those indexable profile tools from Mesa tools, and I can't wait to try them out!
