I bought a Journeyman set and every size. Total came out to roughly $135 shipped. Pretty good deal, I just need them for around the house, nothing major. Thanks for the information!

Which is better for all-purpose use (e.g. wood, metal, drywall, etc), bi-metal or carbide tip? They're both the same price.

Bit more expensive, but buy them once, use forever. Chassis punches. Work where you can't get a hole saw in. And, they even come in square, "D" hole, and a host of other configurations. Bigger ones can be hydraulically driven.

Alchymist-

How thick of material do those max out at? I cant imagine those going through .25" steel plate? Look like electrical box knock-outs.

No, the ones shown won't punch 1/4" plate. They are used extensively in the electronics industry, and yes, electricians use them - mostly the round ones.

I do use hole saws for the thick stuff, and like the Spyder line:

OP was talking about getting the info from a ham radio group, which would be a typical end user of such punches. Shop use for fabricating/welding types not so much.

This is really a fantastic price compared to retail.

My difficulty is in choosing what sizes I should buy as a homeowner/hobbyist. Any advice? Buying every size seems like overkill. Buying for common PVC diameters seems like one way of doing it for the larger sizes. I can't think of what other large holes I might need to drill.

I think their web site is down.........I was on it earlier but can't get on now.

Same here. Was going through and adding stuff to cart and then got stuck. Will have to try later.

Guys, I think I found an even better deal.

The same manufacturer of the hole saws in the OP's post is the OEM for a lot of other companies. I am almost certain this includes Milwaukee (also made in USA, nearly identical design including white finish and narrow ejection slot in the side). It looks like Milwaukee is taking advantage of the "blow out" from this manufacturer and is offering these hole saws at very low pricing.

Here is a Milwaukee kit that includes 22 hole saws, 3 different arbors with pilots, 3 extra pilots, and a case for it all.

$49.99 including shipping (no tax) from CPO on eBay

Home Depot sells this same kit for $272 + tax

^^^ That is a smoking deal, wow.

Here I am saving up to buy legit carbide "cutter" style hole saws and this deal pops up. Decisions decisions.

Such a good deal, makes me wonder if it's legit?

Edit:

Looks like the deal was legit, and luckily I got one before they sold out. Thinking I'll get some of these to fill in the gaps of the Milwaukee set. Thanks kd3pc for posting this!!!

Just an FYI...Sawblade Express is located in Pacific, MO. Currently Pacific, as well as Eureka (next town) and many other towns/cities across Missouri are experiencing massive flooding. There have been evacuation orders issued as well. This may be the cause of the website issues.

I would think this will delay the fulfillment of the orders placed as well. I've no affiliation with them at all. Just figured I'd give everyone a heads up.

Thoughts and prayers to those affected.

I just ordered one of every size they had left, and 2 of some of the common sizes that I use. Total was $113.86 shipped for 51 different sizes.

Wow, that Saw Blade Express website is a real gem. It took close to an hour to set up an account and order 23 hole saws. Nonetheless, a great deal.

Thanks, kd3pc for posting.

I found the site to be actually rather painless. So maybe it is the time of the day when trying to order that causes issues. I bought a few of the sizes not included in the Milwaukee set and some carbide tipped hole saws as well. I would have loved to know about this website when I was looking for a hole saw to cut some can lights in my outdoor soffit.

I did mine early AM. I imagine that they dont get alot of traffic, and with all the people trying to get a deal, its overwhelmed their server.

What do you all use the carbide tipped saws for? My guess is stone flooring and hard surface countertops (granite and quartz etc)?

I mostly cut wood and thin metal (siding etc) so I think the bimetal blades mostly have me covered. But the carbide tipped saws are so inexpensive...
