Hi

I finally put together a pedestal for this very heavy vise. Last thing to do is paint it up.

Looking for either original color for hollands or just color suggestions.

Thanks

Interesting pedestal......and will probably work if you don't use the vise for anything really heavy or large.

I use my vise and sometimes need a cheater to get things loose. I would suggest if it were mine.....I would add a larger diameter sheet of metal under the "weights?" so when I'm prying on something in the vise, that my leverage doesn't try to tip the whole enchilada over to the floor.

Hope it works for you....as to color, silver or gray are hard to beat.

I have a Hollands 23-1/2 with original paint, it is a very dark drab green - almost black.

I did copper hammered paint.

Filled void in top of pedestal with epoxy

Going to paint base black hammered.

Trying to source a cheap 24” diameter steel plate. I’d like to weld that on first but I’ll probably just paint it and start using the set up. Definitely will add the base plate. Just done want to spend the $

Ok I'm dumb. What are those shiny round things?

This winter a neighbor at my shop moved out. He was going to throw out a bunch of stuff. The round things were part of an experiment he was working on. He had a massive generator and the pedestal base was part of the drive shaft and weighted fly wheels.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it’s a solid 2” shaft in the center. The four plates at the base are 2.5” thick 15” diameter plates. Each one around 75lbs. The top was also a fly wheel. It was different had a bunch of taps and weights to balance everything.

It sat in my shop since January and I figured rather than have it all on the floor taking space I’d put it to good use and make a pedestal out of the parts. Definitely an unusual parts list for a vise pedestal.

Thanks for looking
