Markup from the dealer?

That particular set on some German dealer sites is quite a bit less.

I think sometimes dealers will have stupid high prices rather than listing something as out of stock. Thus if you want to buy it they have the profits to make it happen somehow. Most likely you won't buy it.

I've seen this a lot with ebay and it's apparently a tactic to keep a continuous listing or fulfill some other ebay related requirement.

Thats a pretty big set though. Still, price does seem about $400 overboard. I'd take Koken over that set in a second tbh

I would as well, I really like Stahlwille wrenches (specifically Stabil 20's and i would love a set of 14's) but Koken is hard to beat for sockets.

Did they forget to include in the description that the sockets are made of chrome plated gold?

$482.52 (vs. the Toolsource price of $1,659.34) for the same set through Jens Putzier (who is a member here). So, ~$1,200 cheaper buying from Jens....

Last time I ordered from Jens shipping on a set of Stahlwille deep box combo's was about $25 and took about one week from Germany to California.

http://www.jensputzier.com/Stahlwil...html?listtype=search&searchparam=stw 96012702

The photo is different on Jens site, but the Stahlwille part number and the itemization of the included pieces are exactly the same.

A lot of these American companies dealing Hazet and Stahlwille are nuts!

They have insane markups, what am I, paying for that tool's flight ticket over here!?

I'll stick with Jens Putzier as one of my dealers.
Prices are very reasonable (and many times way cheaper)
As well as shipping, as stated before, he doesn't charge outrageous shipping fees.

I ordered a nice set of Stahlwille combo wrenches from Jens, and I'd highly recommend him. Fair prices and good turn around on shipping. Those Stahwille wrenches are very nice, great quality...

buying euro stuff seems almost always better lately by getting it from there & paying shipping.

US Dealers are pocketing the euro exchange gains

Don't forget companies shouldn't charge that VAT (tax) outside the EU.

As an example: That German stahlwille package you're eyeing is 89€.
Subtract the VAT percentage (-19%VAT) (89/1.19)
Now it's 74.79€ and shipping is…let's say 10€

84.79€ doesn't look bad, even if shipping is…let's say 2 weeks, I'd rather pocket that money than pay some ridiculously high markup from some random US seller.

Side note: don't know if anyone else has noticed the price of snapon "recently"

I was taking tech classes some years ago, the snappy dealer gave students a $250 credit (to get you hooked) on top of a "student discount" whatever the hell that means. At the time I believe it was around 40%-60% off retail.

I purchased some items. Seemed somewhat fair.

Went to check the prices last week just for kicks, some of these items went up by $100s of dollars.
Some went up by $70 some by $30 others by $90! (Same item#)

I know the quality is there, the lust is there, the price is sure as hell there.
Supply and demand? I don't know what the eff happened, but I've turned now to European brands and so far, I'm really liking what I'm seeing as far as: price vs. substance.

Wanted to know if others feel as I do.
European brands like Hazet, Stahlwille, PBtools, etc. looks more appealing and easier to obtain now in this globalized world.

Food for thought.
