We started a bit ago. I posted a few pics in my projects thread. The wife and I are adding on to our home in Southern California. We looked at possibly moving, but we love our neighborhood and buying something to 'step up' wasn't really feasible, so here we are. Adding roughly 560 sq ft to the house and 60 to the garage, which isn't much, but I'll take what I can get. The laundry is moving inside, which will help free up a bunch of usable space in the garage as well.
Here is the living room. These back two walls are moving out about 10ft. The fireplace was removed. The house was built in 1954.
The back stripped and footings formed. We found a septic tank smack in the middle of the footing, so ended up just being able to slurry it and pour over.
Concrete poured. The house is on a raised foundation, which isn't typical for most homes around here. One of my big points was to keep the same construction and make it match the existing, both the floor and the roof line. I can't stand the bread box add ons to the back of raised foundation houses.
