So my old 20 gallon compressor crapped out . Now I can finally justify throwing a little money at a newish unit . Now I was raised to be frugal ( my Kids spell that CHEAP ) . Anyways this is what I did . Bought a 60 gallon tank from a fellow whose oilless pump had turned to dust for $25.00 .Rolair 3 cyl single stage pump from a local supplier for $ 325.00 (ROLAIR is solid cast iron and North American Made) Reused my Baldor motor and pressure switch gauges valves etc. I welded up a rack to mount everything on top of the tank . Total outlay of cash $350.00

Nice work! This is my plan as well, buy a large tank/entry level compressor some day, and when the motor craps out just replace it with quality parts. This is also the plan for my brothers Husky compressor.

What are your CFM and PSI ratings with this thing?

Awesome deal on the tank. I'm not familiar with that pump line. $325 is working up on the high end for a small single stage pump, but if that's a really good pump, it's a pretty good deal.

I have a new to me K30 2 stage that I just rescued. Thing is built like a tank.
The build very high quality industrial / construction site compressors. They carry a very complete line of repair parts and schematics for all of their pumps. If you have any questions I spoke with Josh who is head of the service department and he was very helpful and emailed me full service manual and parts list as well as discussing the parts they generally see fail on my model. Good luck with your project looks great!

Nice job on that......you think the way I do.

Little off topic, but looking at that avatar methinks that might be a '48. Had one in this so many years ago, living in Edmonton.
