Home compressor?

I would like to get a small compressor for occasional use around the house, tires, pool toys, run an impact gun occasionally but no painting or other heavy use. Looking at a Dewalt, 120v, 15 amps, 2.7 max HP, 3.8 CFM @ 100si. Does this sound like a reasonable choice for my needs?

Sounds like the Dewalt you picked (what is the model number) might be marginal for your needs if you plan on using a decent Impact gun .. most 1/2" impact guns need about 5 cfm @ 90 psi. How big is the tank also?

It is a twin tank, total of 4 gallons. 4 cfm @ 90 psi. BTW, what are the pros and cons of twin v single tanks?

i just got the craftsman pro series 25gal hotdog type. It is a 15am 2hp motor and its an oil one as well. I had the red craftsman 33 gal oil less compressor and returned it due to it being extremely loud and tripping my breaker. I had it on a 20A breaker eventually and it still tripped it, but there were other appliances on that as well. The pro series I have now doesn't trip that breaker and worked a lot better than the red series one. It wasn't a bad price either and its quite. may want to check that one out. Its CFM rating are really good as well and drives all my impacts and everything else great

With 4 gallons, it's ideal for nailers, small air mouse sanders, etc.. try to get a minimum of 20 gallons ..

Thanks for the heads up, I will look for a larger unit.

I have a 100 litre 2 HP compressor running off of 240 volts, its great for filling up a tire, running an impact gun but using it with an air hammer or shearers will make the compressor turn on every 20-30 minuttes


Great a few sizes bigger than what you think you really need and in a few years you won't regret it
