I want two of those Ridgid 16 gal. vacs. I don't know if it's me, but I feel the quality of the vacs have declined in the past few years. But at $30 each, it's not bad price.

So confused...

I have older dewalt 18V drill/driver, jab saw, and trim saw, all of which get considerable use in my home shop. Had three batteries, one bit the dust, two still working. The drill/driver has been broken for some time now in that the transmission is stuck in drill mode so no use of the clutch is possible anymore. I've taken it apart but the transmission looks to be a sealed unit.

Been wondering about where to go from here, maybe start down the road of lithium with lifetime battery replacement with the ridgid compact drill/driver and hope my dewalt jab saw and trim saw will limp along with the remaining two dewalt batteries. I just can't afford to replace the whole set of three tools at once.

Then I see they have an 18v dewalt compact (non-lithium) with two batteries for $99. How much do the dewalt 18v batteries cost as stand alones? My current dewalt 18v batteries says XRP, but the ones in the add don't appear to be XRP. Does that mean they would not work on my dewalt cordless tools?

Thanks
In a nutshell :headscrat

Dewalt has four types of 18 volt batteries
1: Compact (NiCad)-------------------------(good) 2 for $80
2: XPR (NiCad)------------------------------(better) 2 for $100
3: Compact (Lithium ion)---------------------(better) 2 for $120
4: XPR (Lithium ion)--------------------------(best) 1 for $100
the XPRs have higher capacities than the compacts

All Dewalt 18 volt batteries work with all Dewalt 18 volt tools, but you do need a Lithium ion charger for the Lithium ion batteries

Given your situation I would just get the 18v dewalt compact drill (non-Lithium) with two batteries for $99. You would get a new drill, 2 batteries and a charger and all of your batteries and chargers would be compatible and you could still upgrade to Lithium ion later if you wanted.

Opinions are very much like butts, we all got em, and they are ALL different!

I have had a set of those shelves in my pantry since 2005, they have been loaded with everything from canned goods to paper towels, the particle board is starting to sag a little, but that particular shelf is loaded with canned goods! Just sayin!
There again it's an opinion! :headscrat
The one offered and/or the one you own must be far different than the one I ended up with. I'm not joking - the wood for the shelves was 1/4" particle board - possibly a bit thinner. I wouldn't trust a can of peas to sit in the middle for more than a week.

Hopefully, the product isn't the same sorry POS I purchased.

Funny how Grainger, Fastenal, McMaster, etc don't have "black friday."

Check the SKU (part number) you'll notice on a lot of the really good deals, they're different then the mainline product.

The reason being that they've had a lot of features pulled out (motors, bearings, accessories, etc) and bought fixed quantities of the low quality units to offer these binge inducing retail prices.

Not to be a curmudgeon but buyer beware.

Ok thanks, that's what I needed to know. I don't think my current semi-broken drill/driver is the compact version, but as long as the new compact batteries will fit all three of the existing tools that should work out just fine for now.

If my wife sees that lighted dog in the ad I'm gonna be stuck buying that and storing it for 11 months out of the year.

Looks to be the same made in India ones that are at Costco, but in black. They are about $16 at Costco for 32 wrenches they have mixed but mostly good reviews.
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73452

Also sold at Amazon for $30
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MFAD6O/?tag=atomicindus08-20

And Northern Tool for $30
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200377665_200377665

Each one is a different brand with different packaging but seem to be made by the same company in India.

The Maxtech 32pc Wrench Set on Amazon is the exact same as the HUSKY 32pc Wrench Set. Real only difference is the black oxide finish to the HUSKY set. Better finish. Looks sleeker too...here's the company's website
www.maxtechconsumers.com

The Northern Tool Set, to me looks cheap

All are made in India though...
