Hey this is a great idea! Glad you are starting it!

I've noticed though thing with HD is alot like Lowes, YMMV terribly. One store might have something, another doesn't on the clearance stuff. - Paul

thanks i stop by both stores at lot to look for deals on tools and stuff to fix up my house and build on to so a HD thread was needed

yes every store is differant

Not tools, but all of the Leviton structured media stuff is on closeout, for the A/V geeks among us... I've seen that at several nearby stores (north metro Atlanta / north GA).

that 95 is about all those toolboxes are worth. they are very light duty.
im glad we have this thread now. i think that hd clearance is more across the board than the way lowes does theres.

I also have a Husky brand tool box for home use. It's been a descent box for basic weekend use around the house.

I'll monitor this thread but my hd is kinda hap hazard about closeouts. Did score some heavy duty husky wood handle garden tools a couple weeks ago. I've got a few acres and can't ever have enough shovels etc.

Is anyone still seeing the closeouts on the garden tools around their area? I'm pretty sure most around here have all the Razorback stuff in. I've been so busy with work that I haven't been out in weeks to the local big box stores for any deals.

Dropped in on my HD tonight to check on this. I got the last 7 sets of 3 container organizers. I use them for electrical terminals and other small stuff so I wanted a couple spares, but my mom uses them for her craft stuff so she's in love with them. If you've not seen them, they're some of the nicer bins I've bought including Plano and other name brands. They have little pieces molded in to hold the dividers so when you reach for something you don't pop the divider out and mess up your whole organizational thing. ;)

As for the other tools, I could only find a 3 set of crescent wrenches for $6 so I snagged those, and one set of those picks for the $4.60. I asked the customer service lady to check inventory at nearby stores using the item codes from the pictures (thanks for big, clear pics BTW!) and she said there were none to be had. She told me that was all leftover Christmas/Black Friday stuff. It's a shame too, because at those prices I would have snagged one of everything just to have extras for around the house, in the car, etc.

Thanks for the info though!

I appreciate the offer, but the pics and mini drivers were the least of my concern if I had been able to find stuff. ;)

I'll see if my dad turns up anything when he checks his local one tomorrow, if not and I need something I'll PM you. Thanks!

The one in Champaign, IL has several of the black Husky toolboxes on clearance. They ring up even less than they are marked. I just bought a 26" 6 drawer top box with lift supports for $59.

I found the 4 piece crescent wrench set today at another store near me. It was marked $9 but rang up $6 like mentioned above.

What I really wanted was the 3 piece pliers set (diagonals, needlenose, dikes) and the 6 piece mini pliers. I have better of all, but would love a second set for my tool roll.

My local Home Depot is closing out a lot of lawn and garden equipment parts. Got a deck belt for my mower for $9 that was originally $65. I also got quite a few spark plugs for pennies on the dollar. They also had a lot of mower blades (push and rider) for about 75% off.

I went back and bought another one to put in my car trailer. Then I stopped at Harbor Freight and they have all the plastic drawer organizers on sale. They also have the socket trays and drawer liners on sale.

I really thought about this and was tempted, but the problem is that by the time we add the shipping cost to just the one thing I think they lose the value. I may just save and put the money towards some Knipex. Thanks so much though. :)

Home Depot will match Lowes 5% credit card discount? Can you then use any kind of payment?:dunno:

If you use your HD card, just ask the cashier to honor the competitor discount for the 5%. They'll pull out the slip of paper with different bar codes on it and scan the 5% discount right away.

Lucky enough, between posting that and today I think I got a used set of Knipex (still waiting to hear back from seller to arrange to meet). Granted I'll be paying a couple dollars more, but it's Knipex!

Again, thanks very much for the offer. The fact that you'd offer is more than most!

Where are you folks finding the 3pc organizer boxes. I cruised through the local HD last week and couldn't find them. I really wouldn't mind picking up a couple at this price.

The ones I found were on the same aisle next to the tool belts. They still showed as $7.** on the shelf but rang up at the $3 each. I was walking thru the store carrying them and finishing up my shopping and one of the guys working there asked me where I found them because he had been looking for them for quite awhile.

Anything good in their "black Friday" sales?

I saw they listed the M18 Fuel Sawzall and Fuel Grinder + XC battery and charger for $368...which is pretty cheap.
