Re: Home Depot Clearance/sale Thread 2014

I picked up two Irwin 90 degree clamps for $5.50 each. Still had some vises for dirt cheap.

No great deals on tools locally. Did pick up 4 bottles on Fuel Injector cleaner for .50 ea.
Usually around 3.00. Saw some Buck brand hacksaw blades fro 1.00, so I need to measure to see if they fit my saw.

My local HD store had a Gearwrench 83000 68 piece socket set in the clearance section on monday night that had a green manager special markdown tag on it from $39.97 to $19.99 with the reason code "slow moving". Their website shows it as currently unavailable but with a regular price of $99.99. Gearwrench's site also lists it as out of stock at $148.07. I didn't really need another socket set but couldn't pass this up at that price. I've been thinking about putting a basic set of handtools in my garden shed so that's where this one is headed.

Are they clearing these out? I drove up to my home depot last night and they had one but it wasn't marked down at all.

Not sure, I have a few home depot by me, but only shop at two of them. One of my stores doesn't even carry this drill ...

Noticed this at a store a couple hours away. Did not look to be a customer return, all the tape appeared original. DXPW3025 allegedly $599 for $150. If I needed a pressure washer I woulda grabbed it. Appears to also be $599 on Amazon

That's a nice deal I would have bought it just to have a pressure washer!

I got the greatest deal of my life through a combination of being polite, patience, sheer luck and cosmic timing. A nice salesman said he wanted to clear out returned/used items, some a year old and to make any offer, like $20. I'd seen the stuff before and figured he was joking so I almost walked away. I figured if we're going to play this game, how about $5? He seemed fine with it. Long story short I got a Homelite pressure washer (excel condition), Lawn Machines mower (engine good, bad wheel, chipped up blade) and an Echo GT225 trimmer (well used but runs great) for $15. TOTAL.:shocking:

I'd feel kind of guilty, except for the fact that I've spent a lot there after buying a house 6 months ago. I could have got more & resold but I figured I leave for people that need it more than me. Fwiw the items I remember seeing were: 3 Ryobi grass trimmers, 2 Homelite Chainsaws, 2 ryobi hedge trimmers and my items.

And I thought everyone ELSE got the good deals...

I had a realization today...

-Home Depot does not require a receipt for returns.
-Home Depot just started carrying Bessey.
-Lowe's just finished clearing out Bessey at huge discounts.

What's stopping a dishonest jerkwad from taking the Bessey stuff he spent $100 on at Lowe's over to Home Depot and returning it for $300?

the same thing that stops a dishonest jerkwad from walking out the door with $100 of any merchandise without paying at all. Absolutely nothing.

In some cases, unique SKU's I think. I got a couple gallons of Rustoleum on sale at WalMart, was gonna have HD price match off my receipt but the SKU's were different. Yes it was IDENTICAL product, color, brand, Professional line etc

I'm sure I could have taken the physical can to HD cust svc desk and proven the SKU on the WalMart receipt was in fact the same product, but I didn't invest the time.

However in your example with NO receipt from anywhere, if the Besseys were not recognized when scanned it'd be hard to argue you bought them at HD and thus want store credit.

Yep, it's becoming more and more common now. Especially on TVs, mfgs are printing different model numbers to eliminate price matching (at the request of the retailers, of course). Also Samsung has been known to build "special" TVs for Costco/Sam's Club/etc., because the glare in the warehouse is much worse than it is in regular retail stores. Which I rather appreciate, because reflective TVs are the WORST.

Well a lot of stores including home Depot and lowes ask for a driver's license when returning something without a receipt. If you have too many they put you on a "list" and you will no longer be able to return anything. If you used a credit card you can use that card in lieu of a receipt and that does not affect your "list" status.

You sure that guy worked at Home Depot?

Funny, because I asked him, "You're not some guy off the street wearing an orange apron, are you?" but he assured me he was legit. I keep chuckling to myself when I compare what costs the same or more than one of the 3 $5 items: string for the trimmer, wheel for the mower, etc.

-$324 off of $329, lol...would've been ~$30 in tax on ONE item.

Electronics manufacturers have been doing it for a loooong time. I used to sell TVs at Circuit City over ten years ago when I was in college and Walmart was doing this then. A lot of times the Walmart models were actually inferior, as in cheaper internals or rebrands from entirely different manufacturers. They sold a lot of "Samsungs" that were made by no name Chinese companies. Often though they were identical, just with an extra letter or two tacked on the end of the model number.

I have a couple of things I could use a pressure washer for but couldn't justify spending $599+tax on one however I would have been all over that for $150. If nothing else you could have flipped it on ebay and probably doubled your money at a minimum.

Re: Home Depot Clearance/sale Thread 2014

I don't know if anyone has posted this, I did a search and didn't find it.

Home Depot in Smyrna, TN has Stack-On storage bins on what seems to be close out. Some almost 50% off!

I bought two of the 39 drawers and saw 3 left on a higher shelf

They had a nearly full display rack and another one on the top of the shelves.

Also picked this up for $10.

The replacements for the Irwin ratcheting clamps turned out to be branded as...DeWalt.

Seriously, Stanley is putting the DeWalt name on EVERYTHING. In a few years, we're going to be drinking DeWalt coffee and smoking DeWalt cigarettes.

The top one was $7 here in Norfolk, VA. It was in the regular section with all of the other storage things. There were about 6-7 left, I bought 2 (even though I don't really have anywhere to put them). The bottom one was $12, it was the only one left and in one of the clearance sections at the end of one of the aisles.
