Shipped online orders that are returned in store get shipped back to the motherland. They do not go out on the sales floor. The clerk even puts the coding label for the return system on it when you are standing there. I imagine that might be different for items that were from online orders with store stock pickup (same day).

Yeah I wasnt saying completely return it....have it shipped to store, pick it up then ask what the in store price is. Since this does have a store SKU, once they look it up it should come up as the clearance price. Then you should be able to return it and rebuy in store (again, since it has a store SKU)

You can't do that though. The inventory systems are separate. When the item is returned it does not go back into the store's inventory. That makes it impossible for them to sell.

The store sku for the clearance model SM20-02 is 398-199. The SM20-03 is the new model and is full price so you will not be able to return/rebuy it at the clearance price.

Lmao.. I was thinking I was the only one

Same here. I searched all overheads in hardware dept. had a guy scanning things for me and he checked a couple dewalt saws, they had none in stock and no stores around did either. I found their stash today though on the aisle right next to the clearance end cap, it had a couple good deals.

Hit yet another HD at lunch but found no miter saw or table saws.

On the plus side, they were offering 30% off of the clearance prices, so I picked up 4 huge bottles of detergent for $3.50/ea, a Husky 2 pc folding hex wrench set for $2.**, and an M12 band saw for $88 (last one). I wasn't planning on buying the band saw but I couldn't pass it up at that price.

I thought someone previously mentioned it only gets sent back to mothership if there is no in-store SKU? That could be wrong, I know.

My store has a couple areas with "clearance" stuff high up on the shelves but most are in boxes so I cant tell whats what. Some are labelled with SKU stickers so I guess I could technically look them all up, but if its small enough to fit in a small box, chances are "these are not the droids Im looking for" :)

I just returned an 18v shop vac that I bought online for $89 to a local store which now has them at $49. It was a return, get a gift card, get one off the floor and buy it deal. Even though the item is sold both in store and online, the one I returned got a coded label and is on it's way back to the mothership.

I just ordered the drill combo (Product: Dewalt 20V Max Combo Drill/Impact Kit Model: DCKTS240C2) for store delivery at customer service desk.

I was at HD yesterday and they had 0 in stock but the price listed as $50.00

They said it was a clearance item and they would not get any more.

I will post results on my return/re-buy.

Worst case I will just return it.

I ordered the 20V Max Combo Drill/Impact Kit Model: DCKTS240C2) for store delivery at customer service desk. I tried to return and re- buy. No luck.
They send online orders back to their shipping center.

No money lost. But Some time.

Unless I'm missing something -

What we need answered is...

What if there's a store SKU, but the store itself doesn't have it in stock?

So, get it online and do a return/rebuy on the spot at a local store to get the in-store clearance price? Can you do that?

I think we've danced around the issue but haven't gotten a definitive yes/no as to whether or not that exactly would work.

My assumption is that it'll be a YMMV or it depends on the store manager, etc.

If that would work it would mean there are still some ways to get a few of the clearance deals.

But you risk becoming a serial returner for ship to store stuff. That might be a problem, kind of like constant returning without receipt

If that does work - I'd be pissed lol. I asked this question about a week ago - nobody knew - and i didn't try it (my bad, I know).

The DW745 was in stock online for several hours last week and I froze haha.

My store had the $18.04 Husky impact/ratchet from post #908 too but I need cheap air tools like a hole in the head. Save your receipt though, it'll probably drop to $9.02 soon.

The site also had the medium sized hoodie in stock. I managed to order one for ship to store. They won't adjust the price, though, because there is no in store sku

So I've proven that items without store SKU can't be adjusted. But I can't prove the opposite (not yet anyway)

Well, that would make sense at least, though - right?

So, in store SKU for same item - you see where I'm going with this... Lol

Yeah...order it shipped and ask for adjustment.

Since a credit card was used you might not even need the receipt showing it was an online order. Then just have the store return and rebuy after finding it on your card.

Could work. What clearance stuff is left online?

I tried doing the return/rebuy on the Ryobi batteries but was told no by 2 different stores. It was worth a try.

My HD is aweful. I went today and showed the guy this thread with a the skus. He reluctantly looked them up and they had none of the items. I went to get a drill combo. The ridgid 18v for 179 they showed 2 in stock but they had none. Nothing was on clearance

It does not work. The online store and physical store are different.

When you make an online return in a store they send it back to online warehouse...

I get that - but, if there's a store SKU - they wouldn't do it right there on the spot?

Also - during the milwaukee promo - did anyone see labels on some of the boxes they were looking at? - I definitely did. They looked like either a label on a product that was shipped home or shipped to store and then returned and put on a shelf.

I'm so confused. Ha

Be careful with the miluakee clamshell boxxed products, I bought a m12 inspection camera in store which didnt look like it had been opened. When I got it open it was clealy an older model smashed into the new box.

This isn't that surprising unfortunately. When the 2763-20 was on sale, I found a store that actually stocked them. 3 of the 4 units were clearly used when I opened them up. Unfortunately I found out the hard way, I bought one and realized when I got home. After going back to the store and exchanging it, I opened them all up. At first I came into the store apologetic and "hoping" they would exchange it... after realizing this only happens because the returns desk is simply lazy and doesn't look at the item they are returning, I was pretty annoyed. They should give you 10% off (and an exchange) just for having to deal with that.

Went to HD today to see what I can score and saw they had 2 versions of Ryobi stand. One was a bigger looking (yellow box) for $99 and 2 that were up (in a blue box). I asked the HD person that was there to price scan but laziness got her and scanned the bottom closer one and said its $99 and the ones up top are the older packaging. Are the $15 Ryobi Miter stands blue older packaging or Am I wrong???

You're wrong. They are in a Green and black box. The blue boxes predate the color switch made last year. They are old stock but not the droids you are looking for.

Do we have a UPC or store SKU number for the stands?

(sorry, too lazy to sift back through all these pages to find out)

went in today to surf around. found an old old husky 4 drawer chest that had been clearanced out last year. no price, nothing. it was used and returned im sure. no key and the pin was broke for the lid. so none of the drawers opened. i could manually hold the rod and open the drawers, so it was fixable. guy looked at the ones on the shelf (not the same box) and said he could only go 50 because the ones in the box were 79. i offered 20 bucks. he should have had a cashier ring it up. disappointed.

Sorry as I know this is a little off topic, but I know I'll get a quick answer here and you guys know your stuff - It is HD discount related, but not necessarily to a specific deal.

If I get a Home Depot Credit card, do they give 5% off on all purchases made on the card? I know I heard they did at some point, but I'm reading mixed answers online.

Also, if they do, is this an automatic discount in the system or does the cashier have to key something in? I'm wondering if I can get a cashier to give me the 10% Lowes coupon match, would I get an additional 5% if I used an HD card?

Ive only ever "offered" Home Depot something, one time. They used to sell the mobile caster setups (the ones that come with their bigger table saws, not the rolling stands that their smaller ones mount to) separately from the saws, in a kit "universal" enough to adapt to other tools.

Turns out there was a cult following for them, and my store had a few left after they were "all gone"

Offered them 10 bux each for 3 sets and they said no problem just get them out of the store.

Sold every set on Ebay for anywhere between 75 and 109.

It seems store dependent around me. A couple stores never give me a problem, another couple stores have claimed the 5% match is only if you have the HD commercial card. Since the whole point of the discount is to match the Lowes CONSUMER card, I can never quite figure out why those 2 stores give me problems.

You DO need to ASK for it....they wont give it by default. Its a barcode they scan to knock the 5% off.

Ive never tried to combine it with a coupon....my guess is that they wouldnt let it fly, but its worth a shot (and if you do try, please report back your results)

I have a Lowes card. From what I understand, if you have both cards, and charge on the HD card, they will give you 5% off if you ask for it.

I ALWAYS do.

And I ask for it on clearance items as well.

Works at Lowes, of course, also on top of reduced or clearance prices.
