Saw this today in NJ at the Ewing location. Thought I'd pass it along.

I was trying to get the husky led light here also...but its $59...not $15

I see your receipt said $59....then later at $15.....how did you do that??

stores here won;t match clearance price at other stores.

i found a store that had it on clearance and returned it there then re-bought it at the clearance price...good luck in your hunt.

There are some stores that carry them during the season. In the entire Dallas area, only one store carries them regularly (Lewisville). The easy way to tell if a store carries them (and not just clearancing out an on-line only item that they brought in for some sort of promo), call and find out of they have any in stock. If they do, they will still be priced at $729. If they are discounted at all, they are on their way to being clearanced out.

any update on your price matching clearance price on those honda mowers...
curious how they will bypass almost $300+ difference...

Pick up the last 6 of these today. Clearance at $5.04 ea. I'll probably keep an eye out to see if the price drops once more in their system before it disappears for a possible return/re-buy. If not it's still a good deal at $1/bag.

I have several of the document sized ones (other brands) that are great for organizing my Junk Yard Bag, and some multi-piece specialty auto tools (steering wheel puller, fuel pressure tester, etc.) that didn't come with cases.

Keep track of when your homedepot puts out the Ryobi neon green boxes out on display. Those are supposed to be the newer versions. When that happens, they will most likely clearance the older Ryobi tools in the green/blue boxes. The ones I found were hidden way up in the rafters, not on display.

Was just able to use the computer for the first time and confirmed that no stores near me have the Delta Addison. If anyone has an extra (or a similar one) please PM me.

So are you guys trying to get them to price match to $29 dollars for the mower?

I think it would be pretty difficult to price match the $29 Honda mower I bought, because that one was a specific manager mark down for that specific mower only. It was not a system markdown of all units. He priced it at $29 because it did not start (turns out fuel line was simply detached).

So I guess moral of the story is simply to check the outdoor power tools area regularly. Something similar might pop up.

In 2010 I was on their 10 most unwanted customer poster. Even had a photo just like at the post office.

Florence, SC store still has a sizeable chunk of wood (pun intended). Also, a possible find for someone if they want to haggle--size large Milwaukee M12 heated jacket. Sticker and phone app scan show $199, though. Also, a slightly used M12 Hackzall kit for $83, regular is $129. I was tempted, but already have a PC 18v reciprocating saw. Can't justify another cordless platform right now.

Its 86 right now, so I don't see the jacket going anywhere soon unless someone here can get a price match or wants to return another size; I recall a lot of XL and XXL jackets were found on clearance.

I picked up the Ryobi 18" straight shaft from the Livermore Home Depot last night. There were about 5 left of the 17" curved shaft ones (one of the boxes looked like it got dropped off of a 10 story building though) and unfortunately no attachments. They did have several replacement upper sections (The motor and trigger assembly) for around $20ish dollars. I picked up the 18" straight for around $33 before tax and I think the 17" curved were around $25.

You wouldn't believe what retail stores destroy and throw away.

And wholesalers are worse. Last years model gets destroyed.

Manufacturers? They are all about production. Imperfect?....Trashed.

It all gets credited in the books.

Even loss by theft is covered by insurance and accounting.

Not to say theft is right.

But when an authorized agent of the company conducts a transaction and you get something free or at reduced cost from "full retail", then neither party has taken advantage of the other. If fraud or misrepresentation is involved, then other rules apply.

Use the price check app on the instore computer. In the search box enter anything you want like "miter saw, Dremel, Bosch, mower" etc. It will give you a list of all matching items starting with the 1 cent items.

Then click on the upper left hand side that says "filter results". There you can choose to filter based on clearance status.

This only works in the in-store computers. Does not work from home.

Use the computer to find clearance items and check store stock.

so, help me out here guys...
I thought I'd try this for the first time today. I stopped at my local store today, walked up to the customer service desk and asked if they had a computer that I could use to look up some stuff. They looked at me like I had 3 heads.
I repeated, dont you have a computer for customers to use to look for stuff?
Them: Just tell us what you want and we'll help you find it. (they were being nice about it)
Me: Nothing in particular, I just wanted to see if I could find some things that have been marked down or on clearance.
Them: There's a clearance section in the middle of the store
Me: Can I check for other things on an instore computer?
Them: No, we dont have anything like that, and clearance items are not listed in our computer system.

So....what's the deal? Are they lying to me or are they just ignorant or is it possible that my local store doesn't have a computer?
I'm a little bummed.

That stinks. Yesterday was the first time I noticed (and used) a computer right at the service desk, by the online order/in store pickup. It's facing out and no one said anything to me.

Last time I used the service desk computer, I edukated the HD worker so that they could direct me to the location of the deal. They were so clueless and simply went to the store website and said the item I wanted was no longer available. Use any available abandoned computer or simply ask for permission to avoid any unnecessary tension.

I've run into those same type of employees too at certain locations. Odd, because the next nearest location to me fully welcomes customers to use the computer. One worker even offered me a drink while I was using the computers.

If you are getting harrased at your preferred location, the best bet is to use the pro-desk computers (not customer service/returns) on weekends, and weekdays after 7pm. I noticed the pro desk is usually empty during these times. I also hear that the computers in the lighting dept are rarely if ever manned...but none of my lighting depts even have computers :(

My two closest stores are slightly different.

The nearest has a terminal on a desk, with a chair to sit in. It is at the end of the customer service desk, near the entry to the tool rental area. I've sat there for hours, going through this thread and looking things up on the HD website as well as checking store stock for that store and the others in the region. Also, there are two stand up terminals at the Pro area, but they chase you away there, especially on weekday mornings when they are full of contractors, and clerks man them, with guys lined up.

The store further away has a stand up terminal at one end of the registers, away from the Pro desk. I don't remember if there were others at the Pro desk, as I didn't need them that day.

I have seen terminals at the flooring area and especially in the cabinet/countertop and appliance area. Don't know about their uses or availability.

Best bet is to ask around from different employees to get a well rounded view of what's what. My favorite guy in tools, a very knowledgeable guy concerning clearanced tools, didn't know about the way to search for clearance items on the terminal, just on his own little price gun.

You can use the store inventory search to look for things by brand name, SKU, item type (Like wrench) etc. And then narrow the search to clearanced items only. Then check stock for that store and the nearby ones.

Very handy.

But I need to get a feel for the timing of when they mark things down. Because once they hit a certain price point, things disappear quickly.

One thing I noticed, is that if the associates aren't too quick to notice markdowns, and put them in the clearance location, or mark the price on the shelf, then you have a better chance of scoring things. Once they are in clearance or have a yellow tag, then there is just too much traffic for them to be ignored for long. If you want more then one of an item, you better grab it right now!
