I wonder if the store with the cheap Milwaukee prices was one of the ones with a big Milwaukee display. The big HD by me had a Hilti then Bosch now Milwaukee mini store. They stock pretty much everything Milwaukee sells other home depots just carry a few sku's. That's the only reason I would think a store would have that many Milwaukee sku's to clearance out. I bet they are gone by now some one smart would have cleaned it out you could make a killing reselling all of that.

Actually Im thinking that the stores with the big Milwaukee setup WONT have the clearance prices.

I have a feeling the clearance is only at stores that have never stocked most of these items. It seems the majority are the Fuel line, which are expensive to begin with. Along with some specialty items (portable bandsaw, rotary drill, etc). I bet they are clearancing in non-stocking stores to make sure they clear out all inventory. But the stores that usually stock it I bet are still at regular price.

Hopefully tomorrow I can test out my theory......didnt have any luck today.

Yea, I'm just confused on that whole situation maybe it was an order error or something. It's just weird to see a store stocked with that many fuel items. Like you mentioned its usually the stores with the big Milwaukee display that carry pretty much the full lineup.

Are the shelves marked with these Milwaukee prices or is it a surprise when they ring up? If the shelves are marked I can't imagine this stuff lasting long.

I was wondering the same thing... I planned to visit a local store tomorrow but was trying to decide which store to go to first, one that carries all these SKUs on a regular basis, or a store that doesn't normally stock all of the Fuel items.

rocket1420, I'm familiar with using the computers, but have always looked up an item using the store SKU number. Are there filters that allow you to only look at clearance items if you type in "Milwaukee"? I guess I will have to play around with the app tomorrow.

Yes, I just type in Ryobi or Ridgid, then there are filters to select clearance. There should be a sort option to sort by lowest price first if it isn't already, that way all the penny items show up first.

Update: I visited 3 stores today. 2 were stores that don't normally carry the full line of Fuel tools.... they had all the clearancing pricing. 1 of these 2 stores carries the fuel sawzall and fuel circular saw on a regular basis, and they were not on sale (the one that don't have a display for these 2 tools did have them on sale). The third store carries all the fuel tools, and they were still full price.

Thanks for checking, this is what I figured. There are a some Makita items that are the same way but we are talking 2-3 items tops.

Also confirmed...went to a store that carries a few of the items that are listed on clearance and a bunch that are not.

In that store the items they stock are not on clearance....the items they dont have are listed at clearance prices.

If you don't mind, do you have examples? I checked the Fuel M18 Sawzall and 2730 circular. Both were regular price. Also the M18 brushed 5/8" SDS hammer drill. My store definitely does not carry the FULL line of Fuel.

If the store normally carries the M18 fuel sawzall (even if they don't carry the full fuel line), it won't be on sale. If they don't normally carry the saw and happen to have one (not really sure why they would besides random returns), then it is on sale.

I got that....but there's gonna be trends, ie a store is unlikely to stock a Fuel portaband or 4.5" angle grinder but NOT stock staples like a recip saw and circular. So I was just inquiring what are likely to be the "2nd tier" or less-common items you found on clearance at these smaller stores.

In the price check app look for a store with 0 inventory, that is your store with the sale prices :lol_hitti

That m12 bandsaw would be nice!

I stopped at a home depot today to check this out and found a very beat up obviously returned high torque impact for $55. I was worried it would be trashed but when I got out to the truck it looks like it is brand new. Haven't been home to try a battery in it yet though.

I was all set to go to a few different home depots as I'm just starting my M18 collection. But then I checked the computer and saw there was 44 clearance items in the store I was in. However, I don't think they stock any of them so like it was said earlier you just have to get lucky with a return. So I really got a GREAT deal but I don't think it's worth driving around looking for because the chances are slim to none.

Nice find! Doesn't take much too beat up the Milwaukee card board packaging. Amazing how these tools arrive in one piece to your home since they are shipped in the original thin box with have little to no protection from rough handling, tossing or literally drop shipped.

When a clearance item is marked say "40.00", and has been for months, what are the chances its less than that? The tag said that price was posted on january 12th.

I found something that was labeled clearance from last year at like $79. I took it up to the self checkout and did a price check. It came up at $75. Sometimes they don't seem to move much, even though they have been on the shelf for a long time.

January 12 is not really old enough to have gone penny staus. It might be at the next lower level though **.03 or **.02.

For penny deals, look for items with clearance tags dated 9/2014 or earlier. Some 11/2014 and 12/2014 tags have gone penny status as well, but not the majority of them.

It also depends on the specific department as well. For instance I have noticed bath/kitchen faucets take longer than usual to hit **.03 and penny status.

BTW it looks like those Husky 5 pack of pouches has also gone penny status if you can still find them.

SKU: 1001018939

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-5-Piece-Zipper-Combo-GP-46043N14/205548871?keyword=1001018939

I picked up the last nine sets at a local store last week, and the last three at another store a few days earlier. If anyone can still find them, they are great bags for the money. Some of mine will become gifts while most will help me organize my tools. One small bag will probably become dedicated to my Channellock 927 pliers so I don't lose the extra tips.

A while back I got that 5 pack of pouches because I wanted to keep my chainsaw tools better organized than just thrown in the box (you know they don't stay in the blow molded 'holders' inside the boxes very well) every time I open it.

The 5 pack wasn't really sturdy or sized right for this but they sell a single envelope/sleeve style similar to the ones in the 5 pack that's about 12" x 5" and has 2 zipper compartments. Now I have one in each saw case and it holds things quite well.

There is no 'hot deal' to this but if you find the 5 pack useful these are only $4 or so regular price.

Makita 14" power cutter just stopped to $225.03. Was close to $1k originally. This is the 2 stroke model, it looks the exact same as the new 4 stroke, check the display if it is something you want. I was hoping it would have dropped close to $100, ill pass at this price.

Do a search for whatever you want in the Price Check app. You can even search for the letter "a." Anyway, type Milwuakee into the box, hit the Refine / Refine Search box (can't remember exactly) in the upper left, and click the Clearance radio button. Then you hit Return to Results or something like that.

The price check application is pretty poor. I selected Milwaukee and then filtered for clearance and "in store." Imagine my excitement when I saw the 3/8 M18 impact for $40. I clicked on the link only to discover that none were in stock. Then why did I even bother to filter for it?, I asked the software (rhetorically). I then click "go back to list" only to discover that the filters have all reset themselves. Wonderful.

Ridgid air jobmax kit (with multi-tool head) on HD website at 55% off for $44.88. Store SKU 694283. This tool is great, supposedly much better than the cordless and corded versions. I managed to snag the ratchet head on clearance a few months ago for $18. I actually bought this jobmax kit new on eBay for $35.

I used it for the first time to check these Milwaukee prices and I thought the exact same thing. Why have the "in store" button there if it shows items that are out of stock?

I can't see how it's defrauding if they can look at the receipts and see exactly what you're doing. I'm just going to post the Milwaukee clearance that I found. These are YMMV. Some of my stores had these prices, some didn't.

I'm convinced what you found was employee pricing. I checked the online inventory of all 29 HD's in the Tampa area (assuming your location is accurate) and found nothing on sale. ???

It's not employee pricing. I see the same screens at some of my Home Depot stores. (Southern California)

So buy these items at a HD that stocks them... Return them to a store that doesn't... Wait a week and hope you get an awesome deal?

Kinda seems a little sketchy to me now that I think about it.

So why aren't you guys doing this in reverse, and buying at a discount and returning at full price? Seems like the better scam, no?

Comments like this make me sad for humanity :lol_hitti Read the thread a little bit please. There is no such thing as "employee pricing" at HD. Most part time employees don't even get a discount (atleast 2 of my buddies that worked in the area didn't). These prices are in-store only, and only at stores that don't carry them regularly. I'm seeing the same prices at my local stores using their computers as well.

Thanks for explaining, though it could have done without the snarky one-liner. Passive-aggressive insults like that are annoying, don't you think? :rolleyes2

Sad for humanity? That was enough to make you weep for the entirety of the human race? You are truly disappointed in our status as a species over this? Your day-to-day life must be really frustrating.

I could have, but this has been explained NUMEROUS times throughout the last 5 pages of this thread. 10 minutes of reading and he would have had his answer.

Actually if you could just go to all the stores and make me a list of the clearance products that are in stock and send that to me so I don't have to drive around to multiple stores every week that would great.

I also don't like having to sort through dozens of dust covered products that are all packaged in the same box with a different model number, so if you can move those to the front so I don't have touch anything I'm not buying that would be great too.

If I'm making the stores visits, you can find those items on ebay for sale :bounce:
