OK I just found the 307 piece husky tool sets for $99 bucks .store had 3 in stock.

I picked up two of these sets today. Looks like they're phasing them out for a slightly larger set at the regular $299 price.

The chip in the credit card is to mostly protect the retailers and banks. It is not to protect consumers. If they used chip & PIN, which is what they do in Europe, it would protect consumers. All it would mean is that you would have to enter a PIN for credit cards just like you do for debit cards now. And for that little bit the greedy credit card companies and banks pass on because it does not do anything to protect them.

Welcome to the USA. This was a completely braindead decision. I am not pro big government but this is what you get with free market - decisions based on greed. Why spend a little more and protect consumers? **** 'em.

Actually with the change over the merchant takes on the risk not the consumer. The rule is that if the merchant doesn't upgrade to the new devices then they assume the risk for eating the cost of a fraud transaction. The consumer is protected just like always.

The whole point is to cut down on in person fraud. If you look at Canada and Europe, once the EMV OR Chip and pin went in the in person fraud dropped to almost zip. Online fraud is what went up. Nature of the beast.

Just gotta try to stay ahead of the bad guys.

No, what I meant was even if EMV is used everywhere there is not really any protection for the consumer. I know what you are saying about the merchant being responsible but that is only if the merchant does not implement EMV. If they do, then anyone that has your card can use it easily. If they required a PIN to be used as they do in Europe, that would not be the case (and that is what I mean by consumer protection).

It is moronic to not require a PIN to be used with any payment card.

Never thought I'd say this but the better alternative at this point might be Google wallet or Apple pay... At least you can put a pin on your mobile devices before they can be used as a payment device.

I really couldn't believe it when I read the US isn't requiring a pin in addition to chipped cards

Even the stuff that was 8 months old didn't ring up a penny....I found something that was 2 years old sitting there, and it rang up normal. Also, none of the computers in the store are usable by customers. There were plenty of them that had the news, ebay, and the like up on their screen with no one sitting there, but I figured it wasn't worth the hassle.

My HD has a bunch of nailers on clearance, but everything I looked up was only 10-20% off. They have a whole new nailer display set up. I also found a 3 piece HDX nailer set from spring Black Friday on clearance, but only $4 off. I'll be keeping my eye on it.

employees hoard the computers in my stores. even if i want to look they will tell me they can print out the page if i like.
the one at the pro desk.... i thought was for contractors to browse and find items, special order hardware and fencing....etc.... the always have it turned towards the desk. idk. screw them all.

Speed squares, levels, angle finders, protractors, you name it. Snagged up a few spares for some stuff and a few things I didn't already have on hand like a post level.

That's the Johnson and/or Empire stuff? I noticed all the local stores had small price decreases of about 5% a few weeks ago. It was the same as of last week. I'll check out some stores this weekend.

So that hammer drill kit posted up the other day arrived UPS today. Yes 2 days from the time I ordered it and I ordered it at night. It came with the good charger, (2) 3.0ah batteries, the drill driver, and the case all for $146 shipped to my door. No shipping charge but had to pay sales tax. These batteries are $90 each so it was a great deal.

I found a bunch of different size Porter Cable 18G brad nails and staples for $2.00 (5000 count boxes). I got 1", 1.25", 1.5", 1.75". The "project packs" were also $2.00 (NS18PP and BN18PP)

My local store also had some sizes of Porter Cable 15 ga DA style nails for $2 a package.

My store moved the Milwaukee 2606-21CT kits from "Spring BF" to the clearance section but they're still coming up $99 which was regular price. I've been eyeing these ever since "Spring BF" (ugh, it pains me to say it) waiting for them to drop.

I didn't take a picture of it in the store but two stores by me have these weather radios on clearance for $10.

I think Home Depot did at one time on their site because I remember ordered clearanced items from a Home Depot that was closing. The problem was the HD website would fulfill the orders out of store wide inventory not the store. I think that's why you don't see clearance items online anymore

There is a button where you can change the store number you are viewing, but its never worked for me so Ive never been able to see another stores price.

I *can* see if other stores have it in stock, and its usually fairly accurate, so if its not too far away Ill go to the other store(s) and check the price there

Lately, a lot of times the store that has it in stock does NOT have a clearance price, but the store I checked it in that DID have the clearance price did NOT have it in stock.

They can look it up stock/pricing at other stores on their handhelds, but I believe there is also a field at the top of the screen on their store computers that lets you select another store.

One of my local stores said it could price match if I could show them what store that price was at. Pictures off the web aren't good enough (understandably) as people can photoshop them. We'll see if it works, otherwise I'll keep waiting - they aren't a need, but a nice to have thing.

Went to 2 stores today... picked up a few things...
Was able to get about $1,230 worth of stuff for $280!
The Dewalt is for me and the Ridgid for a buddy, and the nails I'm going to split between a few of my buddies.
And no I didn't buy all the nails... only about 1/3 of what they had

There is. But neither Chris nor myself has ever gotten it to work.

I've tried as well.... no luck. If there is something in particular that I'm looking for and I'm seeing inventory at another store, I typically call them while sitting there to verify price before I drive over there.

So my store said they have 2 Ryobi circular saws in stock (forget the sku.. It's one of the blue models, 13 amps). Spent half hour looking for them, then had the tool associate help me. No luck. So instead, she said I can have the new green model ($39.97) for the same price. I've never had that kind of luck before, where they give you the new model for clearance price just because they can't find the old model. I was happy. She gave a chuckle when I asked if I could have 2, saying she's limited by how many discounts she can give out. So, brand new Ryobi 13 amp circular saw model CSB125 for $10.03. Now to try a price match at another Home Depot lol.

I really wish I could figure out how Home Depot clearances out things. The stores in the Metro Detroit area **** for the most part. I have gotten deals but they can site at certain clearance prices for a long time. I used the in store terminal a few days ago and found ****.

I run into the same situation their used to be decent deals to be had but lately like you said its less than 10% most of the time. Right now one store has a ton of gloves on clearance but they are only marked down a dollar. They are not even that nice for that they wanted at regular price.

Oops I glossed over the 5.5A part in the receipt Anyways congrats on your purchase. I keep on wanting to find a good SDS drill deal. I would prefer cordless over corded but either way would be nice.

Get one with a chisel mode. I use mine more as a chisel than I do a drill.

In the case of this rotary, the store doesnt normally stock it.

I think someone bought it at a different store then returned it to my local store. Local store doesnt have any idea where to put it (there is no shelf space for it, because they dont normally sell it), so it happened to be sitting at the end of a tool aisle all the way in the back of the tool area. Ive seen other stuff there before, but nothing good.

And yes, its corded. I would love the M12 or M18 cordless versions, but for a penny I think Ill live. Its also "only" 5/8" diameter, so I wont be getting rid of my 1.5" DeWalt corded rotary either.

Funny thing was I was standing 2 feet away from a self checkout cashier, and I had no cash on me so I had to use my credit card. And I wasnt even there for tools, but once I paid I just left....got as far away as possible, as fast as possible

And this, after I got in on the Lowes price mistake deal for a Bosch 1/2" corded hammer drill (that one was 10.00 so I guess a penny is even more better)
