Yea, I'm also kinda angry I slept in and missed the Lowes crazyness that day. By the time I checked the deal sites it was all over. I don't know did the lowes deal start on slick deals or garage journal? I think we should have a fight club rule that no one post deals to slick deals that's the quickest way to get a deal shut down. I don't get the people that are angry about that whole situation Lowes doesn't owe you anything on a price mistake. If they wanted to be cool they could put out a coupon code for people as a sorry we messed up to help with good will towards customers.

Many slick dealers watch GJ, especially this thread, there is no keeping it a secret.

You know what they say, "The shark never sleeps!"

Years ago I lived in a city with 4-5 lowes & HD plus 3-4 Menards, with my outside sales job at the time I'd swing by any one of them every other day. The stores were really great at discounting things. I scored so much stuff, I had materials for years of home remodeling!
Eventually I became friends with the store mgr and he would cut me great deals when I did major remodeling projects. Ah, those were the days.......

At least you know what you guys are buying.

Almost every SD thread has someone that says they cleared out the shelves w/o even knowing what it was.

That Lowes deal hit SD long before gj. But it didn't last long... It seemed easiest to get the deals of you ordered and picked up really early, before corporate caught on and informed the stores

I swear the local HD stores never clearance anything. Any time I see a deal here the local stores are still selling at full price. I wasn't even able to get in on the Ryobi battery deal as they sold out before I could get any for $50.

I don't buy clearance stuff to resell. I only buy stuff I would actually use.

Agree, local stores in MN tend not to discount anything of real use. I've been to about 10 different HD stores in the last month. Very little reason to come to HD around here unless you are looking for something at retail pricing.

So what's your procedure on this? Take it to self checkout and if it rings up more than a penny you say you don't want it and have the clerk remove it?

There is a price check feature on the self checkout computers.

After I price check I can hit cancel/discard or hit proceed to checkout.

Stock Keeping Unit, it's just a number to track product in and out of a store.

Haha I was asking him to provide the sku not asking what it means:D

Anyway, HD is tighten up the self checkout around here. When you price check item, and it is a clearance item, it will tell you to see clerk even if you hit proceed to checkout. I am sure HD will adopt this logic on all clearance items...our penny days are heading to extinction!

That might only be because you scanned the wrong label.

Ive read if you scan the yellow clearance label, it will prompt for cashier assistance. BUT if you scan the actual UPC thats on the box, it will NOT prompt.

Are you scanning the UPC?

POS systems cannot read the barcode on the price tag/sticker that is for inventory/merchandising purposes, it has nothing to do with clearance or not.

I have purchased many clearance items and the only time it has said see attendant was when I scanned the price sticker.

EDIT: OOPS didn't see Chris's post.

Look like it was user error (will def scan UPC next time). Thanks.

I haven't been following this thread all that closely for awhile now but I did score this today. It might be an anomaly or might have been previously posted.

I would do a price check on the in store computer you might be able to get away with that. I did hear some stores don't follow corporate rules and let the customers use them for some reason. It that was the case I would call corporate right then cause I hate stores that make their own rules.

Being able to successfully buy penny items just depends on the attendant I guess,

The other day I was able to scan 59 penny items. The attendant didn't flinch and even said "have a nice day" when i finished my purchase.

Sweet, going to check my local store. It's been priced at 150.06 for the longest time...

Wow...great deal for a great saw. I have one and it has a lot of power. I've ripped 2x12's down with it and it cut like a knife through butter. I'd recommend that saw in a heart beat.

are those the ones you stick on the wall and pull down the 3m tape to remove them when you don't want them?

Thank you. I called the Apple Valley store and got a SKU of 1000043007. Either way no inventory system shows any in any store and supposedly the entire company is sold out. Their inventory control is so screwed. I hate it. Lowes is so much easier to deal with.

Even if you use the inventory checker you get an "internal error" page cannot be displayed on home depot with those 2 SKUs.

Well after a lot of calling I got one of the stores to ship me one. I don't own a circular saw at all and this one seems to be a really great saw at $199 so at $50 I don't think I can go wrong.

Edit: mine was the SPT77WM-22 Internet # 204955639. I wonder if I bring my receipt back they will match this?
